The drop off from Simpson to Caldwell appears to be not as big a deal as we thought. TE,RB,FB are used more often for pass plays. Whalen plays decently trying to win a job, but obviously struggles a bit at times. Tate catches a few screen passes as well.

AJ Green proves to be a fast learner for a 90 yard day. double teams keep him out of the end zone.
Greshem gets his head out of his butt
The running game gets going at home
The defense has an affective day with help of home town crowd.

Bengals 21
SF 20

....

Andy Dalton and AJ Green get big home town welcome as more tickets will eventually get sold. Andy dubbed by fans as the "BIG RED MACHINE" after leading a 2 minute drill to set up the winning score, he is motivated after throwing his first INT and comes back to run up 250 yards and 2TDs

Scott and Leonard get used more (as I already mentioned) to offset preparation for eventual loss of Benson, and the current loss of wide receivers.

I'm not sure SF can score 20. If we stop Gore, they are nothing, especially without Edwards playing and Crabtree has been limited all week. I say 24 - 13. Dalton tosses a couple TD's. 1 to Gresham and 1 to Scott. Green has 85 yards to go with 6 catches. Caldwell is decent. Whalen has 3 rec for 35 yards. Benson has 60 to go with Scotts 30 and Leonards 10. We pick off Smith twice.

I want whatever they're having. Distractions abound. Dalton's going to eventually have an off day. The Niners have a decent defense. This has ugly game written all over it. I'd say something like SF 13, Cin 10.

Agreed. Denver had no trouble moving the ball on our D with 3rd and 4th string WR's, I don't think San Fran is much worse on the Offensive side of the ball and I like their D a lot more than Denvers last week.

23-17 Niners.

Benson will hear the boo birds as he struggles to get 75 yards, and he's due for a costly fumble.

Alex Smith isn't as good as Kyle Orton. Not even close. Their WR's aren't as good either with Edwards out and Crabtree limited. Their CB's aren't any better than Denvers and we threw all over them. SF's safeties are worse too. Their D won't be able to stop the ball through the air. I'd put Dalton at close to 300 yards again. I also think our D will bounce back. I see an easy win against one of the worst 5 teams in football. The only teams SF is better than are SEA, INDY and KC.

I hope your right. I would love to smack down Kramer with Dalton at the helm of my FF team:pound:

I agree Orton is much better than Smith, I just don't think overall that Denver is much better than San Fran. I shudder to think what Gore might do to us after watching Willis M. last week.

Here's to hoping the D steps it up a notch this week. I do think the excitement of the home opener might help take focus off of the off the field distractions though.

Who the fuck is Dalton going to throw 300 yards to? SF has a better D than Denver.

Denver, SF, and Cinci are all in the same tier of mediocrity right now.

I would favor the home team in all instances. SF is coming across 3 time zones to play us, if this game were in S.F., I'd give us about a 10% chance of winning, in Cinci, I'd say we have about a 60% chance of winning.

This is the type of game we should win but won't. Just like last week. Niners win 17-13. Benson lays a fat egg

For the record, I will not be making a prediction for this game.

I was going to break down and call for a Bengals win, but fortunately the Simpson/Collins/Benson news intervened, and brought me back to my senses........

In total D Denver is 15th and SF is 17th. In passing D Denver is 9th and SF is 25th. Yes SF may have the better run D but it's passing D is terrible. So I'm not sure if I'd say SF's D is better. Also we still have Green, Gresham who should turn it around, Caldwell knows the playbook, and then some other young guys who are hungry to get in the game. Dalton could easily throw for 300.
