not sure Baker should be on this list. Since really all he could do is go backwards. The best he can hope for is he just keeps it going.

My Surprise vote though is Daniel Jones.

I keep thinking how a lot of people were giving the Chiefs shit for moving up & drafting Mahomes.
The Giants Allegedly drafted Daniel Jones way to soon. He plays the same way as the Offense they have Currently. What if he surprises people like (obviously not exactly like) Mahomes did.

It is Eli so chances are Eli will get get benched at some point. The Giants have an amazing RB which is a QBs best friend.
Its actually not all that unrealistic to think that they give the keys to Daniel Jones pretty quickly. My perception is that he should be pro-ready pretty much from week 1 and the Giants have a head coach that was able to make due with Sam Bradford and Case Keenum.

The barometer for 'breaking out' seems pretty high, though. Daniel Jones might get 3,700 Yds and a 7-9 record but thats not really breaking out. Its hard to imagine his ceiling much higher than that while the Eagles and Cowboys are also in the division and the Giants roster somewhat lacking.

well he has about a 4-12 team so 7-9 to me would be extremely impressive.

Baker already broke out- put up record numbers, so I refuse to vote for him on those grounds.

I'm thinking the Mahomes guy , he had pedestrian numbers his first season, expect at least 60 tds and 6000 yards :suds:

So...lets say if one of these guys throws for 3500 to 3800 yards with 25 TD's and less than 15 INTs with a comp. percentage of 63 to 65%. Is that an NFL breakout type season?
If thats the criteria Baker already broke out

I think Kyler Murray is gonna come out of the gate setting the woods on fire and looking like the next big thing, but it's gonna be pretty well impossible for him to avoid injuries playing the way he does, so it won't be an extended period of dominance.

But he has my vote.

the beauty is any team in the NFL can hire his services for next to nothing...

3700 yards might not be all that impressive anymore, but it's still something as a rookie. Especially if his other stats are good....and as you say, with a roster that isn't really noteworthy.

FWIW, most of the issues I have with the Giants roster are on the other side of the ball. If someone like Brady or Russell Wilson had Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard then we'd be expecting a competent offense.

He got knocked around like a pinball against Bama. Bama might be a college football powerhouse, especially on the defensive front, but they're no NFL team.
No he didn't. I remember watching that game and being impressed with Murray's ability to avoid big hits. He runs OB and slides. He almost never takes big hits. Alabama got to him, but they never really hit him hard.

You watched an entirely different first half than I did.
