Choose any MLB starting pitcher to sign to a 5 year max contract

You guys want to sign some old dudes to five year contracts.

Only one.
It's a risk, but no more risky than giving a younger player without a track record huge cash.
Kluber would be 38 at the end of a 5 year deal, but he doesn't have the millage on his arm many 32 year old aces do.

If there was a young Greg Maddux around, he'd be my choice, but I don't see one.
Part of the problem is teams want these guys throwing in the upper 90s all game long now, that is going to wreck some of those 25 year old arms before they reach 30.

I'd go with Aaron Nola. Just 25 and he has progressed each year to where he is now. 5 years in what should be his prime. Would only be 30 years old at the end of the deal.

There are 3 or 4 guys who are 25 years old that I considered, but I trust Kluber most.

Newcomb has to have perfect tempature and conditions to be effective. And he cant throw a strike when he needs to. He is also a huge mental pussy. RedSox can have him straight up for Sale if yall want him.

Only Braves pitcher I would do this max deal for is Touki Toussaint.

I'd take Folty's future over Toussaint's any day.

I'd rather get 3 or 4 years where I know for sure what I'm getting and take my chances the last couple years instead of hoping . Even a guy like Kluber hasn't been consistent for long enough for me

He just got a late start, he's been very consistent since he learned how to pitch 6 years ago.
The upside of that is he has less than half the innings on his arm Verlander has on his.

Kluber won't be in baseball in five years imo. His body won't hold up. But I can't say Scherzer is "better".

Bauer doesn't really have the track record, but he's still fairly young and he was flat out dominant. He's always had the stuff to be an ace and I expect him to be one of the best pitchers in the league over the next 5 years.

He's stupid though.

Kluber's been pitching at this level for 4 or 5 seasons straight though.
Also the eye test is damn impressive, he has 3 elite pitches that he has excellent control over. Even his change up, is very effective because of his dominance with the other 3 pitches.
