Well Seattle can no longer claim they have the loudest stadium as the Chief fans shattered the 137.6 decibels level that the Seahawks held for not quite a year cheering at a level of 142.2 decibels.
Seattle first had the record at 136.6 then it went to KC at 137.5 and then Seattle got it back at 137.6.
Maybe the warmer weather in KC helped it may be harder to create noise in December.
Again? Kansas City Chiefs fans set another world record for crowd noise - GeekWire
Oh, hey, another football team breaking a crowd noise record.
During the second quarter of tonight’s Monday Night Football game, Kansas City Chiefs fans set a new Guinness World Record and helped make Arrowhead Stadium “the loudest stadium in the world.”
For those that haven’t kept up, this is a recent new trend for NFL teams — well, at least two of them.
About one year ago, Seattle Seahawks fans broke a two-year-old crowd noise record at CenturyLink Field — which was specifically built to increase noise levels — in a game against the 49ers at 136.6 decibles.
Then, the Chiefs wanted in on the fun and fans at Arrowhead Stadium set a new world record one month later, beating Seattle’s mark by 0.9 decibels.
But the Seahawks wanted the record back and the 12th Man came through this past December with a noise level of 137.6 decibels, narrowly beating the Chiefs record.
Apparently the Chiefs organization didn’t want to let Seattle be both world champions AND the world-record holder for crowd noise level. So, today, fans got real loud — like, 142.2 decibels loud.
