I don't know what this means but just a couple of thoughts. No sacks in his last three games which included the Big Ten Championship and the NCAA playoff.

He helped turned Limegrover into a former PSU OLine coach.

I am intrigued by Isaiah Simmons but my pick would likely be Young.

After watching video of his last three games, here's what it means to me.
If professional teams do the same things to Young that was done in his last three games, Montez Sweat, will have 30+ sacks by himself.

Is there any source that says Miami would do that? I just can't see it. Miami has many needs and having 3 first round picks is huge for them.

Totally agree with you!

Maybe im missing something but i thought this was about not overthinking a slam dunk pick. They didn't win a superbowl with Calvin but look at the success financially and on the field that he helped bring. Same thing Chase Young will bring barring injury.
Also, I've never heard the metric for success has to be a superbowl for a high pick, unless its a QB.
I personally would think that open up a can of worms as far a debating goes
As I said, I'm not implying that Calvin was a bad pick or the reason Detroit never even sniffed a SB. My point is that a slam dunk pick doesn't guarantee what every team is striving for, and that is to be world champs. I have no real remembrance of Calvin's draft class, but it would be curious to see what Calvin's pick might have brought in a trade and how that might have changed Detroit's plight.

The only way we get a benefit represented as Miami's 3 firsts this year would be if we are able to keep our #2 pick as well.

Not keeping the #2 spot and moving to 5, means that you only get Miami's 18th and 26th towards compensation. The move from two to five is a swap. In fact it's a swap for a lesser player. Compensation, for doing that begins with getting their 18th, 26th and since your bargain suggested 3 first round selections, a first rounder next year would have to be included.
Would you do it for that?

No any credible one as far as I am concerned. Personally, I see no way Miami would do it.

And I highly doubt they will do that to a rookie. Double, triple team a rookie? Well a talented rookie but still...maybe double team with a RB or chip with a TE but that’s about it. I will say Sweat and Young could be a nasty combo for a long long time

If "that" means pick 18 26 a second this year and their 1st next year, I would definitely consider it. Chase is considered a generational talent, some have made comparisons between him and L. Taylor. That's difficult to pass up. Tell you what, let me think about that for a little longer an d I'll give a definitive answer.

In the Big Ten Championship and the NCAA playoffs, opponents were literally doing line shifts to focus on and stop this guy. Do that at the NFL level and expect to be in the market for a new QB. Focus on that one side, while also getting pressure up the middle ( remember we have real talent there too) and somebody's free (Sweat).

One more question, given that scenario versus drafting Chase Young, what happens to Kerrigan and Williams in both cases?

More than the RG3 trade? No way! The Rg3 trade was the swap, 2 firsts and a 2nd round pick. That's more than fair if Miami gives that offer to us. I don't want to trade down either but if its for the RG3 deal I think you might have to do it.

you are a terrible negotiator.

its not enough by a lot. Why would the redskins part with their pick for 2012 prices? That’s bill o brien trading away Hopkins level stupidity right there.

Kerrigan will be here, but at a renegotiated rate. TW will be gone. But his compensation will be a 2nd round in 2021.

I know that we've talked about the possibility of trading down so let's concede a few things and play the confidence game.

Let's concede that Chase Young is everything that he's projected to be, then ask, how confident are we that any of the players gained in a trade will first make the cut and then become mainstays at their positions? (The assumption is that you can draft whomever you wish)

The Trent Williams for a 2nd in 2021 is intriguing, Kerrigan remaining is problematic to me. (already discussed)

Anyhow, given the circumstances, I stick with the projected sure thing and draft Chase Young. As tempting as trading down for more draft picks happens to be, my level of confidence in these new bodies, simply don't match the confidence that I have in what Young brings to an already talented defensive front seven.

There are going to be some busts in this draft from every round, Young could be one of them, but after checking the draft history and noting how rare it's been for this organization to get that generational talent, I'm convinced that in typical Washington fashion, 10 years from now, the question is going to be... "How on earth did Washington pass on this guy!"

I'M DRAFTING YOUNG WITHOUT REGRETS! :cool2::cool2: :fencing:

b/c the 2012 price was an over pay. I cant believe you would turn down the Rg3 deal. Getting an extra two first rounds and a 2nd is not stupidity

Actually, it isnt the same deal. 18 is mid first round. 26 is late firstround.

The expectation of the Rams was we would be picking high in the two future drafts. We ended up at 22 and 2 in those future drafts.

We will not be getting the second overall pick value we gave up accepting their 18 and 26.

true but it was 2 extra first round picks. The Rams had no idea that RG3 would blow out his knee. Bottom line its fair compensation to move up 3 spots. I dnt think the Dolphins are that stupid and offer that deal anyways.

if you are looking for assurances , then it wont happen . i will say any drafted player from a trade down has as much chance of succeeding and young does . the question is by how much based on your parameter that young will be what people say he is
