in the end you go with young . holcomb and anderson arent what i call pass rushing threats however our boy RK is

no but blitzing LB could be decent. Sure RK becomes more valuable if we don't get Young. If we do get Young and turn down trade offers for RK that would be foolish.

Really? How many Super Bowls did Detroit win with Calvin? Not trying to imply Calvin is the reason they didn’t, but the metric for working out well has to be, ultimately, SB wins.

Maybe im missing something but i thought this was about not overthinking a slam dunk pick. They didn't win a superbowl with Calvin but look at the success financially and on the field that he helped bring. Same thing Chase Young will bring barring injury.
Also, I've never heard the metric for success has to be a superbowl for a high pick, unless its a QB.
I personally would think that open up a can of worms as far a debating goes

I love Young and think he should be the pick. But if Miami offers all there first rounders(5,18,26) this year plus this years 2nd that would equal what we gave up for RG3. Would you do it? I would think long and hard about it. Im not sure if I would do it or not.

Yeah, at this point I'm not sure why Miami would trade up but if they do. I would think the Lions go Chase, Giants go Simmons most likely and then you get Okudah at 5. Not the impact Chase provides but still a hell of a player. I just don't know why Miami would trade up at this point...I think they might even pass on a QB

I agree. If Tua had the hype that RG3 did then maybe. Plus if Tua didn't have the injury then maybe.

If Tua didn't have the injury I think he would legitimately be in play for the #1 pick...that would have been fun

I hope by some miracle that 9 players are drafted before Young. That ain't happening though.

I think Chase
I don't know what this means but just a couple of thoughts. No sacks in his last three games which included the Big Ten Championship and the NCAA playoff.

He helped turned Limegrover into a former PSU OLine coach.

I give him credit for even playing,
With the violation that surfaced and trying to avoid injury, i thought he showed courage

I would target Okudah at #5. That's a king ransom. We should have to think about it. As far as Blitzing threat, Holcomb and Anderson come to mind.
Holcomb got 2.5 career sacks in 4 years (43 games) at UNC. I don't know if Anderson's fast enough to play LBer in a 43 defense.

We could definitely use Okudah - though I'd prefer Simmons.

I would love to say I wouldn’t take that trade; however, this draft is said to be deep in OT and WR. We could do very well by trading down. It also hedges the bets on Young being more hype than substance, much like Clowney was. If we trade down, there is a distinct possibility we could come away with Okudah/Simmons, Higgins, and Jackson, plus a second rounder.

I also think the reason RK is still here has to do with our temptation to trade down. Having RK on the roster makes it easier to trade down.

I see your point or RR thinks Sweat is going to be a huge stud and he can pass on Young altogether and accept any trade.

Miami’s 3 firsts. We get that and trade the pic. Anything less, then keep it and draft Young......or maybe Tua!

The only way we get a benefit represented as Miami's 3 firsts this year would be if we are able to keep our #2 pick as well.

Not keeping the #2 spot and moving to 5, means that you only get Miami's 18th and 26th towards compensation. The move from two to five is a swap. In fact it's a swap for a lesser player. Compensation, for doing that begins with getting their 18th, 26th and since your bargain suggested 3 first round selections, a first rounder next year would have to be included.

The dolphins need to pay more to the redskins than what the redskins gave up yo get rg3.

That was then, this is now. Nothing goes down in price. Very few things stay the same.

I dont want the redskins to trade down, but if they do, they need to get more than 2 firsts and a swap of firsts. They dont “get” three firsts when they swap a higher pick for a lower one. That’s not a “get.”

That’s the same as the fools that actually believe “the more you shop the more you save.”

While I agree with this, I'm not sure that some of the well discussed trade scenarios talked about on this board qualified as "king's ransoms"

Chase has always been the pick, good to see folks acknowledging that.

With some of the well discussed trade scenarios talked about on this board 'king's ransoms' = 'unrealistic wishful hopes'.

More than the RG3 trade? No way! The Rg3 trade was the swap, 2 firsts and a 2nd round pick. That's more than fair if Miami gives that offer to us. I don't want to trade down either but if its for the RG3 deal I think you might have to do it.

I am intrigued by Isaiah Simmons but my pick would likely be Young.

Simmons has 'future star' written all over him, that's for sure!

Is there any source that says Miami would do that? I just can't see it. Miami has many needs and having 3 first round picks is huge for them.
