Wouldn’t be surprised to see the Yankees swing a trade with the Rangers. The Rangers had a scout at their A game checking out Anthony Volpe and Ezequial Duran

Brings me back to what I said awhile back. With so many teams in the mix under the new postseason format, and so many injuries cropping up, and Gallo's performance, his trade value will never be higher than it is right now.

Struggling to rationalize how this affects the Gibby market
I would think Gibson brings a little more value.
He’s more durable, has another year left on his cheap contract and is having a better year.
Hill has been bad his last 7 starts.
Gibson is putting up top 5 cy young award stats.
I would like to think we can get a young controllable mlb arm who isn’t quite fitting into their teams needs, an A+ Prospect and a B prospect For Gibson, Kennedy and a lower level prospect another team may love that our front office isn’t too high on or a utility guy on the major league roster they may need like Culberson or a back up catcher.

It was certainly strange since the Mets and the Rays are teams that have been tied to Gibby recently.

Wonder if they still are tied with something in mind?

Something needs to give pretty soon before we are left holding the bag.

You gotta think the Rays are going for it by bringing in Cruz, so trading away a starter only makes sense if they have designs on someone to replace him.

Our best bet is to hope the Blue Jays stay close. They have the best to offer us.

I just hope the Rangers maximize on Gallo and Gibson’s trade value.
I would package Kennedy with one and Brett Martin with the other. I’d also include a Lower level B+ prospect Martin package and a C+/B- prospect in the Kennedy package.

Hopefully that can net a major league ready pitcher who has 4 years left and sits around 4 era.. decent for us and may turn into something but not what the play off teams need. And then of course an A+ prospect and an A- prospect.

Gallo, Martin and Ronny Henriquez to the Brewers for Eric Lauer, Ethan Small and Garrett Mitchell would be nice. Brewers need a big bat

Kyle Gibson, Kennedy and Chris Seise to the Dodgers for a guy like Alex Vesia and turn him into a starter. Diego Cartaya and Ryan Pepiot.

Competition may be too tough for them this year and their window is just now opening, so I can see them being hesitant to go for it. Meaning, they might be better off hanging onto their pieces this trade deadline.

EDIT: not saying Gibby/Gallo wouldn't help them or that it doesn't make sense, but I can see the jays not making a splash this year.

They keeping popping up in the rumor mill though. Also, both Gibson and Gallo would help them beyond this year. I think if they can pick up a couple of games quickly it would help push them in the right direction.

Leiter (2), Jobe (3), and Lawlar (6) are all still unsigned. Obviously as a fan, I want Leiter signed yesterday, but given what everyone said after the draft about the confidence the Rangers had about the pick, I'm remaining calm about it.

2021 MLB Draft Tracker
Jobe signed today.

The Dodgers are said to be interested in Kennedy.

Rich Hill is not a replacement for a team that is interested in Gibson. This is from mlbtraderumors.com:

Hill, 41, has pitched to a 3.87 ERA through 95 1/3 innings so far in 2021, but he’s also struggled rather considerably since mid-June. In his past seven starts, he’s tallied just 33 1/3 innings and yielded 20 runs on 34 hits and 16 walks. Seven of those hits have left the yard, and Hill’s 28 strikeouts (19.3 percent) in that time represent a pretty pronounced decline.

Overall, Hill is sitting on a 5.40 ERA and 5.25 SIERA since June 12. As Sherman observes (Twitter link), he’s seen his spin rates drop considerably in the aftermath of MLB’s crackdown on foreign substances. I’d add that it may not be coincidental that Hill began incorporating a changeup (ideally a low-spin offering) into his pitch mix in early June. The 41 changeups he’s thrown over his past eight starts are already the most he’s thrown in a season since 2009.

Understood. But they're 5 games back in the WC race, and they'd have to pass NYY in a schedule that also has them dealing with the Sox and the Rays. And that's just to get to the WC game. If they have the most desirable pieces, they could easily hang on to them with an eye to the next few seasons.

Obviously that's just a guess, and given my recent track record, they're probably finalizing a mega deal as we speak.

Hill and Lyles are closer than Hill and Gibson.

Not sure if this is referring to my comment earlier, but I didn't mean that Hill and Gibson were comparable in value. I just meant that if you're going for it, trading away a starter doesn't make any sense, unless you know you're bringing one back via another trade.
