Actually it won't. If you do it on a Saturday people have other options or watch in groups on a Monday you have the best opportunity to maximize TV sets instead of bars or parties.

Having two southern teams in the game from small population states a 15% drop is pretty outstanding. Put a B1G or PAC team in for either Alabama or Clemson and the ratings probably don't drop.

The networks really wanted OU vs Alabama I'm guessing.

I was thinking the same thing. Even though Clemson beat OU, I wonder if ratings would have been better since it would have been a rematch from 2013. I would imagine the media would have loved to create the faux hate from Stoops for the SEC and create a dramatic event.

I'm not sure if there really was a good option? The last time OU played for a National Championship against Florida, that got the same rating this game did. I guess I don't really see OU as a national draw.

My guess is the big cities(NY, CHI, LA) didn't really watch last night because there was really no regional draw. I think the best bet for big ratings is to have a team from the B1G or Pac 12.

I don't know, not everybody is a college football fan. Is the net better for Disney with ABC showing the Bachelor and ESPN showing the CFP Championship or is it better with ABC showing the Game and ESPN showing something else.

Seems like you would only pick up more of the extremely casual fan...are they more likely to watch the game or the Bachelor.

very little advertising or hype leading up to this game. Even on ESPN. Not nearly the same ads, etc. as last year. So for the casual fan, someone who would watch a football game but not be invested in it's outcome, it would have been easy to miss the game time.

If they had this on a Saturday Night or Sunday Night at like 8 on ABC the ratings would be way better, even with teams without the big city draw.
