Too soon? Regardless, you have to love what you have seen from the second baseman this year. True, he doesn't have a lot of power (.374 SLG and .080 ISO) so he's definitely not a guy you could build a team around, but he does produce enough to play second base on a good team with other power hitters on the team. He has a great BB% of 11.1% and a K% of only 16.2% (last season it was at 26.4%).
It's actually kind of a shame that he's on the team at this point. He kind of has a Howie Kendrick feel to him- and a guy like Kendrick can certainly help a team to a championship (I don't think Hernandez is as good as Kendrick- at least not yet, but I do think if he fulfilled his potential that would be his ceiling).
