Interested to see Wiggy's take since he's coming from the enemy.

Have to admit I liked it a lot more until I saw his age. I'd have guessed mid-50s, not 60s.
It's a young squad and he's a great teacher. I actually like this. Think he'll do a great job of coaching them up.

Only a matter of time before he says Beilein > Pop.

I like Beilein as a pick up for the Cavs. The Cavs are starting fresh and need to establish an identity and development. Beilein fits the mold for the Cavs. Ideally, you'd like someone younger, but for the next 5-7 years he should be fine. Also, it's funny that Cleveland gave Beilein a 5-year deal, yet people were defending the Lakers for only offering 3 years to Lue, as well as Vogel.

I was hoping after his talks with the Pistons last year resulted in a major contract upgrade he would stay. Digging through the details there are a lot of connections that make this appealing aside from the Cavs young roster and potential ping-pong ball. The Cavs assist GM played for Beilien at WVU

Not sure why age has a factor. Might actually be a good thing he is older, I'm sick of these young coaches with not much coaching experience. Get a veteran, older guy and an offensive genius in there, he seemed to have very good defensive teams at scUM too

Very surprising. I figured he would eventually retire a Wolverine. I guess he felt like he needed a new challenge

Should be a good hire.

His age is a bit worrisome since he's 66 and it'll be his first NBA job of any kind. But the Cavs have a young roster and he's been working with young players his whole career.

Apparently, some NBA teams have been interested in him for awhile because of his offensive system.

age only matter if he plans to retire in a few years. If he gets the ship righted and can stick around for 5 or 10 years? age a nonfactor

and it hurts UM..so a bonus.

If Jimmy Jam can multitask I see no reason why he can't be the football & basketball coach in ann arbor.
