Jake Voracek is lazy, and seems to refuse to live up to his potential. A #8 pick probably wouldn't pan out for at least two years, if ever. (Jake was a #7, right behind him was Zach Hamil. Who? Exactly). Rick Nash with Jeff Carter feeding him the puck for the next 7 years. At 5.7 per for Carter? In the west?

I'm looking forward to that.

I will agree. Having Voracek on my fantasy roster really helped tell that story. He'd have a monster of a game and then "poof" for about a week or two. It was a lot like damn Hudler, only Jiri's went colder for longer.

I will be pulling for Columbus with Upshall, Umby, and now Jeff, but don't get too too excited there. Carter will score 30 goals, that is a fact. Problem is last year he just didn't seem to score the big goal. He scored when the pressure was off. When the pressure is on he either shoots 10 feet wide or unluckily hits the post.

Thats said, 30+ goals is never a bad thing.

I am excited for voracek because, no offense, he finally has a team of playmakers around him. Our system does not allow a player to be lazy so he will get chewed out for taking games off (unless he is captain...)

The 8th pick..ehhh. With this draft no one knows. We'll see if the flyers use it to move into the top 3 or stay where they are.

I think Carter will do well in CBus. Less pressure, really good player on his line in Nash, a few guys that he's more comfortable with in Upshall, Umberger, even though Upshall may not be there.

Upshall won't be back. Even if he was interested, which he's not, the Jackets have to sign Hejda and still pick up a puck moving D man in FA (or get two UFA D men). That's going to cost 'em. Youngins like Mayorov and Johansen figure to get a shot and Matt Calvert impressed the hell out of everyone. Just no room. Unless Howson can get someone to take the skeletal remains of Kristian Huselius. Which would be AWESOME.

There are rumors that Carter is pretty pissed, but Portzline (Jackets beat writer) says it's about the fact that he asked Holmgren less than two weeks ago if he was going to get dealt and Holmgren told him flatly "no way". An angry "I have something to prove" Carter is even better than the standard "I am really pretty good" Carter.

Also, Portzline let it slip out in his chat today that there was a deal on the table in November that was Mason/Jake for Carter/Bobrovsky but the Jackets balked. Then, when the season went south the Jackets asked if the Flyers were interested and the Flyers balked. This one's been in the works for a while.

Which goes back to why Carter's pissed, I guess.

Howson would have been burned at the stake if he had actually traded Mason. By me, at the very least.

From Jesse RT @ESPNChiHawks: I was told Brian campbell was asked as recently as the last day or so to waive his no-trade but turned it down

Why do you want Brian Campbell when you can have JayBo for $300,000 less?

There we go, Soupy to Florida.
solves their cap floor issue, anyways (that was Dale Tallon's mess inthe first place).
Chicago now has space to build a supporting staff again.
