with DH, I can see Pete rose's numbers being beat SOMEDAY...

He only has the most hits because he also has the most at bats... He only had a career .303 BA.
A career.303 BA is nothing to sneeze at. How many of today's players will be able to do that?

Hank Aaron had an outstanding career. He received plenty of hate mail when he broke Babe Ruth's HR record.
still one of the coolest moments in sports to me, especially these days

Aaron reunites with fans who shared 715 glory

ATLANTA -- The moment is still frozen in time: Hank Aaron rounding the bases after hitting his record 715th home run when, suddenly, two young fans ran up from behind to pat him on the shoulder.

On Friday, Aaron got a rare chance to reminisce with those who briefly shared his moment on glory on April 8, 1974.

"It's wonderful to see them," Aaron said before the Atlanta Braves opened a series against the Florida Marlins. "I often get asked, 'Whatever happened to those two guys?' It's nice to see them once again and know they're doing fine, doing well."
Britt Gaston and Cliff Courtenay were only 17 when Aaron broke Babe Ruth's career home run record at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, now the site of a parking lot across the street from Turner Field.

Jumping onto the field along the first-base line, the teens caught up with a startled Aaron as he rounded second base, each giving him a quick pat before they peeled off and tried to make their getaway down the third-base line. They didn't get far -- Courtenay was caught by officers before he even got over the railing, while Gaston got about 10 rows up when he realized there was no escape.

"They were at each end of the aisle, in force," Gaston recalled. "I just put my hands up and said, 'OK, let's go.'"

If you think Franco wasn’t on PEDs in his 40’s you’re on crack. Not that I care.
Why did you think it was funny that Aaron received hate mail for breaking the Babe's HR record?

A top five of all time in my opinion. At the very least in the top ten.

Hank Aaron had an outstanding career. He received plenty of hate mail when he broke Babe Ruth's HR record.
And Maris received hate mail when he broke Ruth's single season record. So, if it wasnt racism hatred in 1961 then it probably wasnt racism hatred in 2005 either.

Maris was never embraced by Yankees fans who preferred Mantle. He received hate mail for being the one to do it instead of fan favorite Mantle.

I thought it was funny that you mentioned something so random and unrelated.
It wasn't unrelated, it is a fact about Aaron. You of course continue to troll me. Grow up.

NYers are a bunch of unappreciative assholes. Wouldn't have made any playoffs from 04-16 without ARod but it didnt matter. Those 162 games didnt didn't at all, only the games that came after.

Jeter and his banjo hitter bat could not have led them to the playoffs in the absence of ARod.

I highly doubt it. He was extremely durable as well. He never played less than 135 games for 18 straight years and most years played 150+. It just isn't what it was like back in the day.

Think about this...

Ripken had the consecutive game streak and still was 2,500 at-bats short.

Julio Franco played 23 seasons and came back and played at ages 42-48 although wasn't nearly as durable and he played a total of 2527 games, which is more than 1,000 games less than Rose and 5,500 at-bats less.

Pujols is seemingly playing until he dies and he is a 2,800 games behind and 3,300 at-bats behind.

Going to need a Lebron James freak type of baseball player to break this streak even playing DH for 5-6 years at the end.

I think a good way to put it is that Ripken would have had to hit .370 to break Pete's hit record (which of course would also make him the all-time BA leader).

Okay. Now we are getting somewhere. Who was that Pirate outfielder (Al Martin?) who claimed he tackled a USC running back, which turned out, when researched, to be bullshit?
Just because you couldn't find any evidence of it doesn't mean it didn't happen. I remember that tackle. I was sitting in a bar watching the game with a couple guys when it happened. It was me, Steve Ranazissi, Brian Williams....
