with DH, I can see Pete rose's numbers being beat SOMEDAY...

He only has the most hits because he also has the most at bats... He only had a career .303 BA(of course that is amazing with 24 seasons on his belt)…

I highly doubt it. He was extremely durable as well. He never played less than 135 games for 18 straight years and most years played 150+. It just isn't what it was like back in the day.

Think about this...

Ripken had the consecutive game streak and still was 2,500 at-bats short.

Julio Franco played 23 seasons and came back and played at ages 42-48 although wasn't nearly as durable and he played a total of 2527 games, which is more than 1,000 games less than Rose and 5,500 at-bats less.

Pujols is seemingly playing until he dies and he is a 2,800 games behind and 3,300 at-bats behind.

Going to need a Lebron James freak type of baseball player to break this streak even playing DH for 5-6 years at the end.

Cut Young’s career complete games is the most unbreakable record in sports.

Greg Maddux pitched over 20 seasons and never got hurt, and act Young has more career complete games than Greg Maddux does starts.
Autocorrect doesn’t like Cy apparently. Changed it both times to two different words

never said it would be easy... But DH makes it easier to get at bats... KIND OF...

Yeah at first I thought you were talking about Curt Young, the generally mediocre pitcher who had a few good years with the A's.

speaking of franco, do you think we EVER see a MLB player playing MLB and contributing, thru age 48 (or close) ever again?

from 2001-2006 (ages 42-48) he hit a remarkable .285/.358/.412 .771 OPS

for a guy in his early thru late 40's

*rounded up

*Career OBP - .482%, Ted Williams
*Career BA - .363, TY Cobb
Career K's (batting) - 2,597, Reggie Jackson (closest active is Chris Davis at 1,835, tho this could fall sooner than later these days)
Stolen Bases - 1,406, Rickey. 2nd closest is 478 behind. Rajai Davis leads active players with 415, or roughly 1,000 behind Rickey.
Runs scored - 2,295, Rickey again.
Hits - 4,256, Pete Rose. Yeah, this is going nowhere.
Total Bases - 6,856, Hank Aaron. Pujols is 5th at 5,863.
Doubles - Tris Speaker, 792.
Triples - 309, Sam Crawford - Dexter Fowler, active, is 262nd all time with 82.
Home Runs - 762, Barry Roids.
RBI - 2,297 - Hank Aaron. Pujols is tied for 4th with 2,075
Walks - 2,258, Barry Roids. This is going the way of the dodo. Pujols is the active leader with 1,322.
Singles - 3,215, Pete Rose. 75% of Roses hits were singles. Amazing. Derek Jeter tried REALLY hard with 2.595. 65% of his career hits were singles. Slappy McSingles will always be known as such.

I stopped here because I have shit to do. Feel free to add.
Not a career record, but a somewhat obscure single season record we may see fall this year: homerun/plate appearance ratio. Some strange shit could happen in a 60 game season.

Tackled Ron Dayne in HS? That's nothing. Al Bundy once scored four TD's in a game. Beat that.

Okay. Now we are getting somewhere. Who was that Pirate outfielder (Al Martin?) who claimed he tackled a USC running back, which turned out, when researched, to be bullshit?

My guess is the artist formerly known as The Steriod in the Bay- Barry Bonds. I picked that cheater because he played at ASU.

Looks like Al Martin never played at USC | The Seattle Times

The issue arose when Martin, the Mariners' left fielder, told The Seattle Times in May that crashing into teammate Carlos Guillen during a Mariners game reminded him of a 1986 football game between USC and Michigan.

"For some reason, probably because I was young and dumb, I decided I could make a head-on stop of (Michigan's) Leroy Hoard," Martin said back then. "I hit him, or rather he hit me. You remember those big tree-trunk legs Hoard had? That's what hit me."

But after a source pointed out that USC had not played Michigan in 1986 or at all in the decade before the 1989 Rose Bowl, The Times began looking into whether Martin had actually played for USC.

Take away all of (Legit HR champ) Hank Aaron's HRs and he still had 3000 hits. That always blows my mind.
Hank Aaron had an outstanding career. He received plenty of hate mail when he broke Babe Ruth's HR record.

If you think Franco wasn’t on PEDs in his 40’s you’re on crack. Not that I care.
