6 year deal ... no numbers yet ... seems every team had interest
Hell yes!
I would have thought $4/mil per would have been around his asking, but hey, its an extra half million to a guy who's a great player, an important character on the team, and a stellar human being. That's a small price to pay, especially since I work near Verizon and may get a flat tire one of these days.
Happy Brooksy is going to basically be a Cap for life!
Two eloco posts without the phrase "Trade Semin". What's going on?

The rumours were he was looking for close to $5 million per season (also known as Bieksa money)
Did I just stray into gay territory. I don't care. Happy Dance!!!!
"It came down to running the risk of losing Washington, was what it was," says the 28-year-old center. "I knew unrestricted free agency was a week away, but I didn't want to run the risk of going through the draft and have Washington trade a draft pick or trade a player or something for somebody that could do my job with them thinking that I'm not planning on returning.
"My intent the whole time was to return. That was the only option. We got to a point where it got very close to the draft and I really wanted to get the deal done so I knew for sure I'd be going back to Washington. You never know could happen at the draft; they could have made trades or gone in another direction. I didn't want to lose Washington."
He Laichs us, he really, really Laichs us...
This may not seem like much, but almost no Washington Capitals would have said this in the 70s, 80s, or 90s save maybe Dale Hunter, Olaf Kolzig, and Peter Bondra. It's nice to hear and a sign that this town has maybe turned a corner as a hockey town.
