Plus, what the hell do you know about hockey before 2005 ;)!!!

Nothing. I just put the names of the guys I've seen in the rafters. CalleJo is a good one too. Wasn't Witter pushed out as part of the pre-lockout fire sale?

People keep talking about this Peter Bondra guy like he was good or something. His name isn't even in the rafters though so he can't be any good

Same goes for that guy named Olaf Kolzig

I expected Laich to get around 3.5 to 4 million per so the deal is a bit much. Good for the Caps. The addition of Brouwer looks even better now. It will be interesting to see what they do with Semin. Richards is the only big time UFA forward on the market. If McPhee wants to trade him this is the offseason to do so because the supply won't come close to meeting the demand.

Interesting point (though it's based on salary not cap hit): next year Laich will be making 6.5 million, Pavel Datsyuk will be making 6.7 million. Wow.

That's not fair to say at all Pix. Liach is making 6.5 million next season when the Cap is much higher than it was when Datsyuk signed his deal in 07. The % of the Cap that Datsyuk took up when he signed the deal was alot more than the % of the Cap Laich would have (if indeed it was a 6.5 cap hit)

I'm merely saying it to note the changes in the cap in a fairly short period of time. These are two players that shouldn't be close in salary...at all really. Laich's obviously being paid for intangibles.

I think it more reflects how teams manipulate contracts to please the players more and give them money up front. Over the contract, he's still getting $4.5 per year, not $6.7.
