The logical inference from that conclusion is that the NYR are equivalent to NYI. So I looked it up. Both scored 252 goals this year. NYR led by Nash and Brassard, NYI by Tavares and Okposo. Seems like NYR then has a more balanced offense, not so heavily weighted on one player (JT). This is an advantage in the playoffs.

And given Nash's playoff history (or lack thereof), I am calling the Caps with the upset. Both teams were in the top 7 of both goals for and goals against so to say either teams defense or goalies are not great is absurd.

I'm very interested to see how this series is officiated. The Capitals/Isles series had the fewest penalties called by far in the first round. There was only 1 penalty called in Game 7. They missed to blatant calls against the Caps. Nielsen took a high stick to the face. He was bleeding & they still missed it. It was an easy double minor. Ovechkin cross checked Hickey. Heck, they could have called boarding if they wanted to. No call on both.

Let's not forget about the blatant trip in the first period in game 7 as well by the isles, or were the caps the only team they swallowed the whistles for

It was a poorly officiated series for both teams. I'm not saying they should call everything. I'm saying they should at the very least make the obvious calls. They missed a high sticking penalty on Strome in Game 5 or 6. I'm not sure which game it was.

Agreed they sucked. OV was a blatant boarding non call for one and each game had blatant non calls high sticks, Wilsons nutsack getting speared and so on.
Hoping this series get called a little closer than last.

It was a historically low penalized series for a seven game series. Especially so when you consider there were basically 100 hits a night.

Heads up for Caps' fans - tickets went on sale about an hour ago. They're almost gone, but a few left if you are quick. Get 'em while you can. I'm going to games 3 and 6 of the series.

Rangers playing their game more so far, we need to get some puck possession and some zone time.

Caps' D doing a good job steering the shots to the outside so far and the effort level is definitely there. I'd like to see more hitting from us.

Decent period. Could've played a lot better in the opening 8-10 minutes, but you can't be upset taking a 1-0 lead into the locker room after 20.
