I have hope, but my brain tells me we're comin' out losers in this one. We have the talent, but there has been no consistency with these guys. I'll consider it a good game if we can just beat the spread.
I would love to see the Huskers step up and win this one. It would be monumental towards next eason and future recruits.
Unfortunately I have 42 pairs of rose colored glasses that I have stored away for future use and no matter what pair I put on Nebraska does not stack up against Georgia. If I put on pair # 36 we hang for the first quarter and and have a drive in the 3rd that is promising but our lines took their 5 our energy drink at 8 that morning and it just wore off by kick off.
As much as I want the Huskers to win, I just don't see it happening. I hope they prove me wrong and come out and play their best game of the year, cause I think that's what it will take to keep the game close and possibly even get the W. If we have more than one turnover there is no way we win.
I really haven't put much effort into looking at this game thus far. That B1G 10 CCG was deflating.
I do think the Huskers have some chances, then the realities that we've seen so many times enter my thoughts and I'm back to square one. It's the reality of being unable to take the next step. The difference between being a top 10 program and a 20-25 program. The reality that Nebraska isn't good enough up front (on either side of the ball) to get to the next level.
I do tend to get my hopes up when I put the 'Richt Factor' into the equation. He reminds me of Gary Pinkel, but more over-rated by the media just because he's SEC. Georgia has to be one of the most over-hyped programs going into each season only to flop.
Lost to (9-5) S. Carolina
Lost to (10-3) Arkansas
Lost to (9-4) Miss St
Lost to (5-7) Colorado
Lost to (8-5) Florida
Lost to (14-0) Auburn
Lost to (11-3) UCF
On paper (eliminating Turnover Margin) I can see Nebraska keeping it close in a shootout with a chance to win.
With what I've seen in Nebraska not being prepared to open up games I can see them getting behind a few scores early and folding like a cheap lawn chair. ie...Blown out.
Nebraska's ability to overcome deficites this season has come in large part to the B1G 10 not having very good offenses. Georgia's offense is pretty well balanced so I don't see Nebraska being able to overcome getting behind.
On paper? On paper it is not close. Georgia's DL vs Nebraska's OL is a landslide advantage towards Georgia. Georgia's OL vs Nebraska's DL is another landslide advantage towards Georgia.
I could go Taylor vs Murray and all that but they won't be going against each other.
Nebraska's WRs vs Georgia's DBs is the key. It is about the most even matchup but if Taylor is running around for his life due to Georgia's DL and LBs coming to kill him.
I'm considering on paper because Bell, Enunwa, and Turner need to be accounted for. They are what has opened up Nebraska's running game this season.
Georgia has not been stellar against the run this year and NU has had some success against better (on paper) rushing defenses. Georgia will be minus one play making DT. I don't know how good his replacement will be. Hence me saying it could be a close "shootout".
I don't expect Nebraska's front 7 to stop Georgia. I agree if it's Taylor running for his life, then the Huskers are fucked because he tends to make poor decisions in those situations and the turnovers compile. Hence me saying it could be another blow-out.
The quality of Mark Richt coaching does not impress me any more than Bo's. Neither are top caliber coaches.
This is why I wish Nebraska had Navy's run game, man I loved watching the option offense run yesterday. Clock management is going to be huge. We have to keep ugas Defense on the field as long as possible. We can still pass we just have to pass in high percentage situations. when Nebraska trys to move up tempo we just spin our tires.
I am not convinced Georgia is all that bad ass of a team. Everyone wants to say Georgia was one play away.. well the fact is they didn't get the job done. I know its to Alabama but they got beat by a freshman QB. At home? I can't remember... anyway games are not played on paper this is Rex's last game and Martinez is one of the most competitive and calm under pressure Qbs in the game right now. And the mother fucker can run. I will never wright off the Huskers also I am well aware of who Georgia is and what they are not. I know our team has it in them
Nebraska's o line better fucking show up. Nebraska can pass I just really don't want Beck to try and shock the world and have TM throw when its not needed. Ok I'm going crazy so much better happen in this game. I say BETTER because its bout fucking time its starts. DLine wreaks havoc. Online gets a huge push and holds water . Taylor has time to throw. No turnovers. Big turnovers on D. These are just some of what I want
