With leagues starting at all sorts of different times, and with everyone going with conference only scheduling, how are they going to decide the 4 team playoff? When is it going to be held?

My guess is you'll have to award the conference winner a spot, So one conference's champ is obviously going to have to be left off. Let's just make that the Big12.

So ACC champ goes
Big 10 champ goes
PAC-12 champ goes
SEC champ goes

But when will they be held?

I'm assuming their plan is still to have a playoff or is the season just for show, everyone plays their conference only and that's it. We get football, but football without a point.

I think everyone is waiting to see how the season goes before they start worrying about the CFP. Since the 5 P5 conferences are in charge of the CFP, they can make changes whenever they want.

My guess is, if everything is successful, they will expand the playoffs to 8 for this season. Make the NY6 the playoff games:

Quarterfinals: Fiesta Bowl, Peach Bowl, Orange Bowl, Cotton Bowl

Semifinals: Rose Bowl + Sugar Bowl

Championship: Miami FL

They'll discuss who the 4 best teams are, come to a consensus, and announce the top 4.

Thank God the PAC-12 is doing a 10 game schedule then. Probably not a more balanced and deeper conference in the country next to the SEC. Should give us great chances of getting that 1 or 2 spot.

If the conference is truly balanced, we'll beat each other up and be left out.

Yet the PAC is the ones not playing OOC as well as the B1G, so ill choose the 3 champs from conferences who are and 1 at large for a G5 team, the other two conferences can play each other for participation trophies.

No, shouldn't be that way, everyone is confined to their bubble within their conference.

Shouldn't matter records, if you're conference champ within a strong conference, you should be an automatic spot.

It won't work that way. They aren't looking for the 4 strongest conferences.

That seems likely...given your 4-19 record against OOC ranked opponents the last 4 years. Hell, with that track record they should probably give you two spots.

idk if this stat is true or not, but if it is that means ASU is 2-0 and everybody else somehow went 2-19. Scrubs, holding the Sun Devils down.

Arizona State is actually 0-2 with losses to Fresno St. and NC State. They have 0 ranked OOC wins the last 4 years.

They’re waiting until later to tell people it isn’t going to happen.
