I'll say it again and again he's no HOF'er

You can say it all you want. He is easily in and maybe even first ballot.
He made some spectcular catches but got off to a late start and retired early. In the "big" picture his numbers are good just not HOF worthy IMO. (Catches, Yds, Yds per Catch, TD.
29 Calvin Johnson Detroit Lions (2007–2015) 731 11,619 15.9 83 Eligible in 2021 [7]
You are greatly in the minority on that belief. Most of the experts are completely convinced he is in.
Oh please, its a good ole boy system with those clowns. Of course they're gonna say that. If it wasn't for his size we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Meh. I think you are just looking at yards and scores instead of his impact on the game. DCs entire game plan focused on stopping him. He got tripled covered every other game. No other WR in history had that kind of impact on a game.
True, but it was only for a few years.
Was there some other Herman Moore ? The one I remember was good for a lot of 9 yard outs & 7 yard slants .. and then falling down. Having Barry as the opposing D's focus helped too. Calvin may be overrated nationally, but he was better than Moore at basically everything.
81 needs to be in rotation imo.Don't forget cared more about money than winning
Calvin was definitely better in some areas(speed, breaking tackles, and jump balls), but for his era Herman was just as physically imposing, was a much better route runner, had much much better hands, was one of the greatest run blocking receivers of all time, and had something Calvin didn't heart. Herman was my favorite player growing up and i pretty much hated Calvin ever since he signed that ridiculous contract that seriously hampered any chances the Lions had of getting better(Can't have 15% of the cap tied up in one player at a luxury position).
It was very quantifiable in this instance Herman kept trying to play after being diminished by injuries, Calvin quit
Imagine what the Lions offense would have been with Barry and Megatron. There would be 3 other guys open on every play.
Imagine Herman with Stafford instead of Peete, Ware, Kramer, Majikowski, Krieg, and Mitchell during his prime
