Watching the "Raising the Cup" series of the replays of the 2004 Cup Final and in game 6 during the 3rd period Calgary scored what should have been a good goal but apparently it was before instant replay was in full effect for any potential goal. Tampa Bay of course went on to win that game and game 7 to get their Stanley Cup Championship. Too bad for Iginla. Maybe he wouldn't have went Cup chasing had they counted that goal.

I remember that, I don't even think Gelinas knew it had gone in. Could have been an entirely different outcome if they had the views, both technologically and liberally, as they do now.

No Canadian team shall win the cup until a Canadien team admits they cheated

So say the hockey gods

Sure seems that way.

Canadians cite Brett Hull and the crease, but Hull was still considered to be the player in possession of the puck and attacking with possession and control. Thus why a US team has won the Cup every year since 1999 - some fans may not have liked it, but Hull never cheated.

No bad mojo went towards any US team since because they weren't paying stick boys and staff to measure sticks when play was going on and deliberately cheating.

Only thing wrong with that complaint from the Canadians is that Hull's skate in the crease goal was against Buffalo not a Canadian franchise. Or do they consider the Sabers Canadian because Buffalo is on the border?

Actually a team from Canada has not won the Stanley Cup since the Canadiens beat the Kings in '93. Closest was probably Cal-Gary in 2004, or maybe Vancouver's loss to the Bruins in 2011. Both teams had 3-2 leads in the finals & failed to win the series.

And how did that team win game 2 in the final that year?
Some people would say cheating.
Some of those people were on the ice for that game.

I don't think they look at the teams involved in the Final, they look at the action and think Hull cheated. He did not, under any circumstances, cheat.

If he was in there before the puck was and then scored, yes, he could be called "a cheater" and there definitely would have been grounds for review based on the rules at the time and (hopefully) an overturned call but as it stands it was a legal play albeit unpopular with mainly Sabres fans. It's not the same in any way, shape or form to what the Canadiens did, which was flat out bush league childish cheating.

That 1993 Cup team should have a permanent shit stain on it where their names are that doesn't come off.
