Well crap, Cal all but says Jerry is coming back
That was my thought also. Unless the details of the contract says they’re deferring the signing bonus over multiple years. Something that’s been happening with baseball contracts…. Which would be kinda F’ed up because the signing bonus should be a single lump sum payout.I didn't get the whole signing bonus thing then paying him $1M for this year. It isn't like football where it plays with the cap numbers so why not just pay him $11M for this year? Maybe I am missing something.
Good point and one I didn't consider. I just assumed it was an upfront $10M payment but these are the Mariners so that doesn't make sense. That was my thought also. This is a good question for @seahawksfan234 cause my guess is it has something to do with taxes. Or does anyone know the number the M’s can’t go over to receive revenue sharing?Good point and one I didn't consider. Cheap ass owners and Jerry is my guessI wonder about this comment.
"It won't be easy, but ownership and management ..."
Why won't it be easy in Cal's mind? Because inept Dipoto and cheap Stanton? The stadium? Makes me curious.
