Opens up some much needed cap space at the deadline. IF Crosby can come back soon and healthy, Pens are still capable of making a deep run without Malkin.
Huge loss. I hope he fully recovers. There isn't a player available to acquire for Pittsburgh who could possibly replace Malkin.
Mike Fisher.. Jason Spezza
Devastating doesn't begin to encompass my feelings. Tyler Meyers (although it really wasn't his fault...) is now on my hate list *sigh* certainly opens the door for a big deal, AND I think this team, the way it's played sans Sid and Geno has all the capability of WINNING a Cup without Geno (yes he was the reason they won it 09, but that Geno hasn't been around since then). Bold statement? Yes. But they've shown remarkable grit and determination. And we have the best AHL team, which has provided us with many capable players. Dustin Jeffery may never see AHL ice again.

I honestly don't see where Tyler Myers is to blame. He was doing his job as a D man to keep Malkin from getting to the puck.
It's not like he took out his knee or anything. These plays happen all the time and Malkin AND Myers both fell awkwardly.
exactly. it wasn't a dirty hit, or something that had intent to injure, freak accident.
Fisher would be a good 3rd line center on a deep team. Which could work by moving Staal to the 2nd line. Spezza should be untouchable in Ottawa but that's my opinion. They should build around him not trade him.
Murray is going to want a lot for either one of them. Fisher has another year on his contract at 4.2 million.
It will be interesting to see just how much of the farm system Shero is willing to give up. Simon Depres is their best prospect. Tangradi & Beau Bennett I guess are after him.
It's a devastating loss no matter what.
