Hitting gets you into the playoffs. Pitching wins the playoffs.Bumgarner needed help too.
He didn't hit the homer .

Name a better big-game pitcher going today.
Please provide the track record that shows he is a better BIG GAME pitcher.
Take your time. I will wait.
Knock yourself outName him.

Who outed? Cal? lolololol. OkHe just outed the #1 on that list. So, is that who is supposed to be better?
Who outed? Cal? lolololol. Ok
Clayton Kershaw
Max Scherzer
Chris Sale
Corey Kluber
are all objectively better pitchers than Madison Bumgarner. To argue otherwise continues the relevance of your idiocy, so I advise otherwise.
What? The Dodgers finished with a better record than you guys. They're playing the Nationals. Do you watch baseball?LOL, Kershaw?
Where's Kershaw? Oh, that's right, he's at home on the couch right now. Mainly because the Giants swept the Dodgers when it counted most. Last week.
So his team performance should impact how good he is? i.e. David Eckstein is a better player than Ernie Banks?Chris Sale? How many postseason games has he won?
Wait...you're fucking SERIOUS?
You're looking at a very small sample size that can easily change. I already named the four guys who are objectively better*Bumgarner has a 0.79 ERA in his last 9 playoff games. Name one better?
*Bumgarner has a 0.670 WHIP, not to mention 23 straight innings in winner-take-all-games without a run scored.
*NO PITCHER has made more scoreless postseason starts.
*His postseason ERA is the BEST ALL TIME among starters.
*He ranks second ALL TIME in postseason shutouts.
Who is better?
Who called him the best pitcher in baseball?I don't think anyone's saying he's not the best 'big game' pitcher, but that doesn't make him the best pitcher in baseball.
Smoltz and Schilling in their careers probably had runs as the best 'big game' pitcher, but they were never the best pitcher in baseball for any extended stretch (same could be said with Bumgarner).
