You'd think this could easily be a letdown game for the Flyers, but given the circumstances and how badly we need these points, I don't expect it to happen.

The Sabres are far and away the worst team in the Nhl, but they still have two dangerous sons (Hodgson and Moulson) and Miller is capable of stealing a game, so we need to jump them early and put it out of reach entering the third.

I'd like to see G, Voracek and Hartnell all score. The way Schenn and Lecavalier are scoring, if that top line is going (and they are), we're a very tough team to beat.

Read needs to net another one as well.

Agreed, the Flyers need to jump on the Sabres early - I remember last week, the Kings scored the first goal against Buffalo but couldn't finish them off - Flyers need to score a couple of goals early on and demoralize the Sabres

I'd love to see another game where everyone chips in, when you can have 3-4-5 different guys scoring every game, that's great to see

Another reason why we need to pounce on Buffalo early:

They've been outscored 31-4 in the first period of games this season. After that, just 41-35. They're actually losing most of their games in the first, then they trade goals the rest of the way. I'll be more than happy to go up 3-0 after one and then win 4-1 or 5-2. That said, I hope Mason gets the start and the shutout if only for fantasy purposes. The Sabres are the worst offensive team in the Nhl, so that is quite plausible. We're still ranked 28th on offense amazingly, but that is going to change in a hurry as we've been scoring 3.6 goals per game over the last five games. That's right at the scoring pace of the highest scoring team in the Nhl (Chicago).

Figures. Right after I post this, I learn that Emery is starting. Not surprised, I just hate it for fantasy...lol

Either way, this is a HUGE game for us tonight. How wild would it be to technically go from dead last in the division to a tie for 4th and suddenly be only 1 to 3 points back of a playoff spot with a game in hand? It could happen if we take care of business combined with a NYR and CAR loss. They both have tough road games so this is entirely possible, we just need to focus and handle Buffalo at home.

The Devils also have a tough road test in LA, so this could be a big night for us in the standings.

If the Flyers take care of business, everything will take care of itself

Definitely. At first glance, being dead last looks like a bad situation, but we're only three points out of a playoff spot and we have at least one game in hand on everyone. Furthermore, we'd own the tiebreaker with NJ if we can win that extra game. I'm still confident that the third spot is ours by the end of the month and we're not going to look back either. We'll have our sights set on the Caps and Pens at that point.

We have to beat the teams we should beat and steal a few wins against team on the road that should beat us. This will put us as a middle seed in the playoffs

a win tonight and a devils loss (kings) puts the flyers 1 point out of a playoff spot with a game in hand

Unfortunately that only holds true if the Rags and Canes both lose since everyone has played more damn games than us. But they have difficult road tests as well.

Buffalo has given up 3.4 goals per game over their last five and we have scored 3.6 goals per game over our last five, so at least four goals looks promising.

Anything less than a manhandling will leave me disappointed. Let's take this over

I agree. If we play to our potential and keep our foot on the gas, we should really beat this team by at least four or five goals, especially at home.
