The Bucs have a chance to turn things right back around after that disappointing (at best) showing in St. Louis with a set against the Cubs.

They took the first, Watson and Melancon each going two innings and Holdzkom looking good for his first save. (Seriously, give that guy more innings, he's struck out five of the first six batters he's faced.)

Now they have a 3-0 through seven in the second game, with a strong start by Liriano. 9 Ks through six innings.

Wilson is also looking a lot better lately, which is good. We'll need him.

Two victories today. Good job by the Bucs of not letting that sweep in St. Louis keep them from taking care of the Cubbies.

Cole versus Wood gives us a good chance at a sweep tomorrow, too.

Mercer goes deep, 5-0 Bucs.

Interesting tidbit with that HR, that is only the second time in Pirates history that both their starting MI's had double digit HR's in a season.

The last and only time was Jack Wilson and Freddy Sanchez in '07.

Nice to see the 2 wins and close the gap on both the Brew Crew and Braves but if Harrison is out for any extended period of time they are in serious trouble at 3B. Morel is absolutely worthless.

He walked off on his own, and the turn didn't look too bad, so I'll guess just a mild sprain, a couple days' rest, and he'll be good to play.

Walker gives the Bucs the lead early with a 2-run home run.

Right handed, no less!

Gerrit Cole now has as many RBIs as runs allowed in this game. And that home run was crushed.

A great game so far. Too bad Morel is the black hole at 3B.

Braves and Brewers both lost. The Bucco's leapfrogged them both.

Good day.

Even Morel has a hit. To be fair to him, he's hit the ball hard every time up, so he kind of earned that one.

There's the sweep! Holdzkom worked out of a bit of trouble to put up another zero.

And the Pirates are back into a playoff spot, strange season. Or maybe this is just how races always go, and we just aren't used to them.
