My cousin, 3rd cousin so it's a stretch I know, won the '94 & '95 Daytona 500 and his hairpiece never fell off once.

Sterling Marlin is one of the biggest pricks I've ever met, no offense.

I used to like it when Mark Martin was sponsored by Viagra.

Always “Mark Martin doesn’t need Viagra” or something along those lines in his commercials

My favorites (not likely in any commercial) were: "Mark Martin rises to the occasion!", "Mark Martin always faces some stiff competition!" and one that me and a friend made up, "Mark Martin needs an extra burst of speed? Put some of that crushed Viagra in the fuel tank!!"

I don’t kneel for anyone, but it’s no skin off my back if others do.

I’m not hard to get along with. Do what you wannna do as long as it doesn’t directly effect me

Unless they tell me why they are kneeling, while they're kneeling, then I lose interest and move on. Of course even if they did tell me, while doing it, I'd still lose interest and move on.

The whole kneeling thing isn't even original anymore. I'd have more respect for you if you came up with something different.

Ouch! Low blow. One of the biggest what ifs of my uncles career. Wonder how things could have changed.

Edit nvm was thinking of the 2000 race with Jeff Burton and Dale Jarrett discussed above, not the 2002 race.

Is your uncle Sterling Marling? After all, he led points a long time that year.

Should have saw the 2000 first, nvm. I know Marling was in those 500 races then, and was responsible for the 2001 tragedy (not 9/11).

I hate Sterling Marlin because he was a prick, but he was definitely not responsible for Earnhardt's death. It's the final turn of the Daytona 500, the time for give and take is over, and Dale definitely blocked late, and when you block late odds are high you're about to be in a major wreck. Dale would likely still be alive had he just spun out, but he overcorrected and went head on into the wall, and he was one of the last holdouts on wearing open faced helmets and not using a Hans device.

Yeah. I am fed-up with this culture where if you want to believe in something, just make-it-up and then say it enough times demanding everyone else believe the make-believe or else.

This wussie, snowflake Bubba Wallace is a joke and what pisses me off is the King is being dragged through this bullshit denigrating a once-proud, dominating race team and even dragging it further into the abyss than it already is.

Richard needs to step in and release this whack-job from his contract and start over with a veteran driver and some solid sponsorship.

As much as I hate saying it, I think Richard needs to sell the team and ride off into the sunset. This definitely isn't the same sport that it was when he was in his prime.
I think Petty is in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation here. If you cut him, it's going to cause a massive shitshow that NASCAR probably doesn't want and can't afford to have right now. If you keep him, a lot of this bullshit is going to continue. Best Richard can hope for is a "mutual parting of ways" at the end of the season so that way, he can save face by letting him leave.

Richard only owns 1/3 of the team.

Bubba landed a Cup ride despite winning 0 Busch races with Roush, and his teammate dominated and won the championship. You can't cut him now, the optics would be terrible, but I doubt Bubba will leave on his own, there won't be better rides for him.

Kyle Larson could be back and in the 14 next year, he's the most successful minority driver in NASCAR history and he deserves a second chance, but that's gonna be a shitshow as well.

I've always read your posts on the NFL boards and thought you were an idiot, but this certifies it. Marlin was in no way responsible for Sr's death. If you want to blame someone, blame Earnhardt for wearing an antique helmet.

Or just call it what it was, a tragic racing accident.

1st off i think if you have a fainting spell after getting out of a race car it should be mandatory to go to infield care center. The interview shouldnt have happened until he left the infield care center IMO.
but also I noticed when I looked for this you tube this isnt his 1st time passing out. Which might be another concern.

couple years ago.

I suppose some liberals here will say he was poisoned.

It's too bad. Our country has become too politically correct. I know he apologized for that remark.

If he takes over the 14, Gene Haas self sponsors a lot of races, and Tony Stewart is a part owner of Rush Truck centers. Stewart-Haas or JTG Daugherty are Larson's only real possibilities of getting back unless he wants to fight for top 30 finishes with the 00, 51, 52, 53 or 15.

Larson kinda got shit on well before he did what he did. First driver of Asian descent to ever win a NASCAR race, and it was never mentioned. Aric Almirola got no recognition for being the first driver of Cuban heritage to win in NASCAR either.
