It might be or it might not be. If he's being honest with the amount of regret and remorse he's shown over the incident, it's probably best he's back with his family. Plus it doesn't seem like his friends in the area are necessarily bad influences; in fact, they were trying to pull him back that night to go back into his apartment away from the whole incident.

If, however, he's full of shit and just trying to save face, yeah this could be a pointless effort by the Browns, because he could be a repeat offender and out of the league before he even finishes serving his suspension.

$6.25M to be a back-up RB seems like a sweet deal. You're almost always fresh when you go in and the contract is availability based not performance based. Maximum chance of being a healthy FA in March.
