I’m really glad my Falcons, who had an interest in Deshaun, didn’t trade for him. Deshaun may have always been a bit overrated but he looks completely washed up now, and trading away so much for him was just a huge blunder.

As I've always said, it wasn't the trade so much that made me grade that pick an F-, it was the contract afterwards.

Anyway, what do you think Penix will do?

I mean, he can do what he wants, but you favor Myles in this? The guy who in a season we looked like we could be a contender was speeding in bad weather to try and impress a woman then crashed (missing time)? Hope he stays but he's a D.
I hope he stays too and they get this figured out

another part me says- fire Berry, trade everyone and rebuild and be ready to move into the new stadium i na couple years.

I have come to really distrust that Berry can get the job done. Even if he wasnt the main impetus behind Watson- nothing else has really impressed me that much. What are his accomplishments? The Jerry Jeudy trade and Cooper trades. Anything else really?

My gut tells me he didn't write that letter himself.

PFFFT!!! Are you saying a BLACK MAN can't write legibly or coherently? Are you implying they are inferior to the white man!? Don't back out now Drew, we know who are you as a person! No denying it now, you'll only make it worse! Time to adopt they/them into your family lifestyle!

I mean I'll shut up on the political crap now, but this is where it was.

I think Penix will be a strong franchise QB, he showed a lot of potential in his 3 starts last year, I think we should have a great offense next year, it’s the D that is the question mark - we need better corners - Terrell is good but Alford and Hughes are not starting caliber players, and we need a star edge rusher, hopefully we get one in the first round of the draft, Judon didn’t produce as much as expected and while Ebiketie is decent he’s not a star. If we can improve our edge rush and corner play we should have a very good team. We should’ve had a winning record last year, we lost several close ones, and I think Penix will be better than Cousins, can’t wait to see a full season of Penix at the helm. We kind of disappointed last year but I think we‘re moving in the right direction and I’m hopeful about the future.

You guys have needed a better pass rush for a while. The names you listed should help, will be interesting to see what they actually do.

I don't blame you but make no mistake...atlanta badly wanted him.

I mean, sure the Watson trade was a killer but a bunch of teams wanted to make that deal. That kind of limited him in draft picks.

But think the Delpit and JOK picks were really good. Newsome was OK. Jones needs to stay healthy but a good pick. Thought Hall looked good but also needs to be healthy..and not dumb. Thought Tillman played well when he had Winston as his QB.

Harris pick looked OK until he got hurt....then found a replacement who has been really good in Pocic. Along with Dipodesta has been able to manage the cap really well, too. In addition, based on where picked I cannot think of any true disaster picks he made. Even Wills was all rookie and played at least OK until he could not stay healthy.

Has he been perfect? Hardly.....but I'd keep him.

Yeah we’ve been trying to boost our edge rush for a while and our draft picks at that spot haven’t produced - Takk McKinley was an epic bust that we took in the 1st round, and Vic Beasley had one really strong year in 2016 and then didn’t do anything, and there have been a few more guys who just didn’t produce. Our high round draft picks have actually been very strong lately with one notable exception, Kyle Pitts - it’s too early to tell how good Penix will be but I think he’ll be very good, Bijan is great, London is great, the O-Lineman we’ve selected high (Lindstrom, McGary, Bergeron) have been good, Terrell is good - Pitts was the major misfire when it comes to our recent high draft picks, he just hasn’t been nearly as good as expected and we could’ve had Micah Parsons or several other great players with that pick, Pitts was a big mistake.
I hope we have a good draft and good offseason this year, if we do I think we’ll be a playoff caliber team next season.

Pitts is an interesting case... his TDs have gone up by one every year, but yah, hasn't really materialized into the elite TE a lot thought he'd be. Kind of going the Noah Fant route. Tons of athleticism, just not quite putting it together (or dealing with nagging injuries).

Pitts just hasn‘t produced at nearly the level you would expect from #4 overall pick - he hasn’t been a total bust, he had a 1000 yard season as a rookie and has had moments of making big plays, but overall he’s been a major disappointment - he’s played in every game the last 2 seasons but didn’t even reach 700 yards receiving in either one, very underwhelming for such a high pick. I expected him to be better this past season now that we had a competent QB but he was exactly the same, and he was probably the #4 receiving option on the team behind London, Mooney and McCloud. I bet we trade Pitts this offseason.

Interesting....

I wonder if Seattle will do that given Kubiak (likes to involve tight ends) and Fant likely being cut due to cap.

Pitts also needs an above avg QB which he has not had. Maybe Penix is the guy to get him rolling.
