I liked Rahim. I thought he gave his all for this team and handled one of the worst mistakes in Bronco history with class. I agree though the Contract just made no sense for the Broncos to try and keep him. Elway has done very well at saying "this is your value and we won't go above it." It has meant letting go of some decent players. I look at the replacements though for guys this past year...

Orlando Franklin--Struggling in San Diego making $7.3 million...Broncos bring in Mathis who is making $3.25 million this year and is quickly looking like his old Pro Bowl self

Rahim Moore--Obviously benched making $4 million this year...Broncos bring in Darian Stewart who is making $2.13 million and is playing very well for us

Terrance Knighton--Not sure how he is doing honestly but making $4.45 million...Broncos are using their 1st round pick Sly Williams having a career year at $1.9 million

Julius Thomas--Hardly played with injuries making $9.2 million a year...Broncos now have Vernon Davis at $2.5 million. Have to see how he does.

All that to show that while some of these guys were hard to see let go Elway does seem to have a plan of how to replace all of these guys and still get great production from their replacements.

Like I said when they all left.... Don`t let the door hit ya in the ass boys. Didn`t think any were worth the price for the effort/attitude and its good to see Elway knew what he was doing.

So Elway since 2011 has put together the greatest offense of all time and now he has assembled a defense that could also rival the great defenses of the Ravens and Bears.

You know Derek Wolfe had a good game when I praise him. ;)

I thought it was the best game I had ever seen Wolfe play as a Bronco. I still think our secondary was our MVP of the game. There were many times when they covered 5-10 seconds and Rodgers still had to throw it away.
Great day for Wolfe. I was hoping the fit of the 3-4 would be much better for him. So far much better.

Yeah I remember when we drafted in 2011-2012 just thinking "We have really been drafting guys that are a better fit in the 3-4 defense." So far that seems to be holding true. Malik, Sly, and Wolfe look like they could all have career years. Heck even Trevathan and Marshall look much more comfortable in this 3-4 defense. They were the ones I worried about not really fitting the system with just being a hair small for the spot on the inside.

Just to show how good this run defense has been...The Broncos have allowed only 16 runs all year of 10 yards or longer. 6 of those are by QB's that escaped the pocket and took off. Even with how aggressive our defense has been they have been very disciplined at the same time. Man I hope Elway finds a way to bring most of these guys back next year.

The OL defintiely deserves some major credit. According to PFF even after our horrendous start to the season they have now climbed to 16th in the league for blocking.

Also just to show how dominant our Front-7 has been. They have Cleveland ranked 2nd, Oakland ranked 6th, and the Ravens ranked 11th in the NFL. All of those OL's though our Front-7 dominated. Oakland is maybe the one that gave us the most fits but even there we still were able to get plenty of pressure with 4 sacks and held them to 65 yards rushing.

I had my doubts about Sly in the offseason, he has looked fantastic in Wade's system.

Oh I did too. My biggest worry was up the middle. With Sly who had very much underperformed and that of 2 ILB's that were undersized I thought we might be setting up for disaster. So far all of them have exceeded my expectations on the season. Turns out that the aggressive style of Phillips fits them perfectly. That is the one thing that had me a bit more excited about Sly this year is what he was great at in college was more having that great first step and his ability to have the counter moves after getting somebody off balance with his first step. So far that has shown up big this year with him disrupting plays in the backfield allowing our linebackers to clean things up.

Seriously what Wade has done with this group is just down right impressive. I've been watching some Raiders games lately and I actually think Del Rio is doing much better with that defense than he did with ours. He seems to do better with less talent as it forces him to be creative. When he had all the talent in the world here in Denver he just seemed to decide that we could win on talent alone. Wade though has really shown a masterful creativity with this group.

A great example of that is this past game. I know our pass rushers sometimes didn't get there but they were trained this past week to make sure to keep Rodgers contained in the pocket. He is most dangerous when he can bounce around and wait for somebody to get open. Collapsing the pocket around him limiting his ability to step into the throw and even be able to see what is going on made him get very nervous. Ware was mic'd up in this last game and he made a comment to Von that he could get around the Tackle and make a play and Von said something like "yeah I could but then he could get out and run." These guys are playing aggressive but playing with great intelligence.
