The gun issues is what scares me with Jackson. Robbery, getting shot in the face.

I was so excited about him at Florida, and I am happy to see him hopefully have his life back on track.

On this week's Huddle Up Draft Podcast. Carl Dumler and I were once again joined by Draft Analyst Erick Trickel to recap the College Football Championship Game from a Prospect Perspective, Finished off their All-Draft Eligible Team with the Defensive side of the ball, and looked ahead to the Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Fullbacks, and Wide Receivers that will be at Mobile later this month.

Still want a Dieon Jones type for our defense
Rex Ryan just compared him to Bobby Wagner
Called Jones a tackling machine that can cover
Was also talking Neal as the new Kam chancellor

Jones has had a great two years in the NFL. Playing LB with CB like speed. Tackles and covers well can't ask much more out of a LB then what Jones brings to the table.

Neal will knock your nuts out. His uncle is Clinton Hart who use to knock people out when he played for SD... Not a cover guy but Chancellor type for sure.

J.C. Jackson's got so much baggage!

I was really letdown by him and all the issues he had at Florida. He rebounded well. I hope he has it all together now.

Overall pretty good. Not too high on Fatukasi, but for round 5 sure.

Herndon is pretty underrated IMO.

Just wish Miami would have used Herndon more. Didn't like how they used him.

How did you want them to use him? In the RZ more? or? I think I probably agree with you, but fill me in more on what you would have liked to see.

Miami really spread the ball out a lot this year. Richard was their #1 but often injured this year... Had a few young WR's step up late in the year... Then they also had the really good run game with Walton, Homer and DeeJay Dallas added into the mix later in the year.

They didn't trust him vertically but I wish I could have seen him in the seam... mostly just outs or curls iirc

Was that more Miami's system this year though or not trusting him? Seemed like Miami ran a very predictable offenses. Rosier came in and took over the QB duties pretty well (ended sorta bad) but they kept it simple for him with a good run game and really good D.

My current OT rankings:
  1. Connor Williams Texas some concerns w/ length and knee but his soph year tape still better than any OT this year imo. He is sliding. Some think he will measure sub 33" arm length. That might put him as a G and make him a Zach Martin type imo
  2. Orlando Brown Jr Oklahoma way better RT than LT. Issues w/ size and rigidity. High Pad level. Good power RT though with insane size. Reminds me of Trent Brown for SF. Worried about conditioning at his size in altitude
  3. Mike McGlinchey Notre Dame reminds me of Wagner. Better OT. Very technical but limited upside as an athlete. Not as nasty as I like but really safe. Better pass blocker than run blocker.
  4. Martinas Rankin Mississippi State OG/OT type. Needs to add strength but constant leverage winner and technical. Versatile as well. Some questions about power out of the gate but will find spot on OL
  5. Jamarco Jones Ohio State LT upside given his movement skills and length. Plays nasty. High pads and lazy hands from time to time. Has huge upside though imo.
  6. Brian O’Neill Pittsburgh Pry the best athlete at OT this year. Former TE who has added like 70 LBs to his frame. Long and nimble. Smooth in pass sets. Needs to do better squaring up in space and add strength/technique. Played LT and RT effectively.
  7. Chukwuma Okorafor Western Michigan Very clean kick step and mover in space. Not nasty at all. More of an occupier than a punisher in blocks. Huge at 6’6" 330 and young. Senior Bowl will be big for him.
  8. Tyrell Crosby Oregon This kid kicked ass in the ground game at Oregon but I worry about his foot speed. Reminds me of Watson tbh. He can dominate a guy on the ground but kick step is sometimes slow. Might be best at G. PLAYS MAD and a great down blocker.
  9. Kolton Miller UCLA good size and length and pretty smooth but plays really inconsistent and soft to me. Doesn’t maintain blocks that well and not overly aggressive. Looks like a pass blocking RT to me right now. Flashes of greatness in pass game though.
  10. Joseph Noteboom TCU Big guy at 6’5" 320 and plays big. A bit stiff and not the fleetest of feet. Another OG/RT type but did well in many games this year. Really under the radar but I think he could end up day 2 given what I have seen.
Then you have the small school guys who are intriguing. I need to see them test before I put them in the rankings:

  1. Desmond Harrison West Georgia/Texas Really a lot of buzz from this kid. Was part of the massive exodus by Charlie Strong in Texas. Really smooth in space w/ great size. Dominated at West Georgia. Mobile will be big, could be an early 2nd if he plays well.
  2. Alex Cappa Humboldt State Another size guy who looks athletic and dominant against his competition but need to see it in Mobile. Needs to add strength imo but not surprising. Pry not a day 1 starter at OT but has tools to get there relatively quickly.
  3. Brandon Parker North Carolina A&T Another guy with size and movement. High pad level and looks a bit rigid but can get down hill and target guys in space. Decently smooth kick step. Pry an RT at the next level. Another very interesting guy at Senior Bowl

I make the argument the Broncos should wait on making big commitments at DL and WR (in FA or Draft) until 2019. 2019 looks LIT at those classes. Guys that are going round 1 this year there would be day 2 picks next year imo... so you are going to get better value and bang for your buck there in 2019.

Instead, use late round pick/bargain bin FA at WR and DL this year to fill immediate depth need, but set yourself up to make an early pick level investment there in 2019

.

Sanders may be released outright now plus we have another WR eating Mary Jane plus maybe losing Latimer.

May need 2-3 WRs now so not sure I agree with waiting till 2019

Mel Kiper's first Mock Draft 1.0 has the Broncos taking Sam Darnold at #5. This was possible, as he had the Cleveland Browns taking Josh Allen with the number one overall pick. I have a hard time believing that!

Well if we don't get Cousins we can always throw some of that money at Jarvis Landry. Him and DT will keep us set for awhile.
