They're probably playing this close to the chest, but if this is essentially Superman... how are they expected to stop him. Are we going to see kryptonite? A hero? A new/different weakness?

I really hope it isn't the latter, because the anticipation building around this movie (I think) is because everyone KNOWs whether it is or it isn't.... everyone KNOWs this is Superman (if he were bad). So if there isn't so much as a wink and nod to it beyond the basic origin story and powers, I mean that stuff is a given, I think there may be some disappointment.

if he remains a kid, then it will probably be the cliché where the kid is not ALL bad... if they let him grow up, then maybe the only way to destroy him will be the ways to destroy superman(Magic, Kryptonite, doomsday)…

Well this is interesting I think a batman movie with a horror premise around it would be great. If James Gunn can make guardians of the galaxy a hit movie franchise ill give this movie a chance

Normally I don't believe in physically disciplining kids but in this case a kryptonite paddle might be in order.

In this day and age of the super hero movies having a bit of "realism" undertone to it, I mean they try to make them as realistic as possible now, which really helps add to their quality. The golden standard of examples is The Dark Knight, you walk away going "hmmmm you know it isn't that far fetched."

So with that, Superman is the one super hero you simply can not make "realistic". Batman it's plausible since Batman himself doesn't have any super powers, just a lot of money. So this Brightburn had some promising potential, given that it's based off Superman, but an evil version. Don't think it will live up to it's potential since Superman never does, it just can't.

that's stupid... why not just make it an elseworlds… DC did a version where it was general Zod's son that was sent to earth, and was evil... they could have used that as a source instead...

and then take liberties from there... I am sure, they could have used this script for that... just don't understand why they are copying the superman story for No reason...

Batman would make a hell of a lot more sense since he has no real power. So essentially a role reversal of the first part of Batman’s theory of BvS DOJ?
