Brightburn, to be released Friday, May 24, 2019, a horror version of Superman, produced by James Gunn, starring Elizabeth Banks as the mother:
Trailer 2:
Odd choice for a reimage. And the cast looks terrible. Going to guess this will bomb at the box office.
Based on what? What other “reimagined” superhero movies are there?I am going to disagree here. The cast is average, admittedly. But I think there is a strong appeal for superheroes... reimagined.

I see what you’re trying to say, but I think the only movie you mentioned that comes close to this reimage is Split. There’s definitely a good market for unconventional superhero films, but to me this one is being sold to a different audience as it’s being billed as horror. But who knows, they could have simply done that to hook intrigue and then the next trailers will be softer.I would argue that Unbreakable, Split, Glass are superhero movies reimagined. Reimagined may be an incorrect way to describe it as I am trying to, but I think there is a demand for unconventional superhero movies such as the aforementioned as well as movies like Kick-Ass, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, etc...
Most people that see these movies more than likely don't know the history, backstory, or maybe never even heard of them before so they may not be relyable to the accuracy of the film, but nonetheless enjoy them. I enjoy superhero films and I don't know much about them as they relate to the comics. That bit of mystery is probably why I enjoy them too.
I am a little confused by this... Is it a superman elseworlds?? or is it not even DC comics??
If it is not DC, then that scares me, since everything I have seen makes it look very superman-ish...
Not DC.
Just basically someone taking the general premise of Superman and giving it a darker take.
I'm curious how the evil just magically comes out of him as something like that would be typically learned.
that's stupid... why not just make it an elseworlds… DC did a version where it was general Zod's son that was sent to earth, and was evil... they could have used that as a source instead...
and then take liberties from there... I am sure, they could have used this script for that... just don't understand why they are copying the superman story for No reason...
cant DC sue??
