Nuggets are not in great shape....their roster is nothing special- and they dont have much cap flexibility this summer at all.

Lawson, Gallo and Faried each make about 11/12 million and are all signed (all though Lawson the only one that is signed for an additional year)- they have team options on Foye (3M) and Chandler (7M)....so they can get some cap room if they waive those two guys.

Nurkic has obviously been a very solid option in the front court- and he makes barely anything- and GaryHarris is going to be there a long time yet and makes little salary.....

If I am the GM i dont know where i go with this team. Is it time to blowit up?

can they win with Lawson/Gallo/Faried making about 33 million and as their core?- They COULD add a max guy....and if they added a really good player - i think Lawson/Gallo/Faried could be a very solid 2/3/4 - but they have to get the guy to come in.......

A real coach would help. Defensively though- Gallo and Faried are both 4's and neither can play against big physical front court players. Getting rid of McGee was huge.

A real coach that gives them legitimacy and a real direction would help out a ton.

Once they strike out in Free Agency, I think Lawson will be traded.

I expect Faried and Chandler to be gone before that, possibly for a draft pick each.

Outside of Nurkic and Gary Harris, they need to just.....blow it up.

If you get D'Antoni, you might as well throw out any post player from the roster anyway. Which might be why he may fit on the Nuggets since they got rid of 2 true Centers already.

If they hire D'Antoni, they should do their best to hang on to Faried. He could be like Stoudemire was in that offense.

Can't believe I'm saying this but it could actually work with D'Antoni, Lawson would be great in an uptempo offense and Faried is still young and career 54% from the field.

Running that offense in Denver would give them back their altitude advantage as well.

2-0 without Shaw.

Any doubt they quit on him?

That was no doubt, when they did that, "1-2-3, 6 weeks" chant.

My problem is, the coach always take the blame for everything.

David West basically called them out for being immature.

“That’s bulls—, man,” David West told me, clearly irked by the news. “That’s bulls—. [Denver's front office] never gave him a team. No grown-ups on the roster. You can’t win without grown-ups.”

Sad thing is they have a ton of vets on that roster. I expect that from a team like Philadelphia with a ridiculous amount of kids.

Him gone.....

The Denver Nuggets have relieved Brian Shaw of his head coaching duties, General Manager and Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly announced today. Additionally, Melvin Hunt has been named interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Marc Stein: Coaching sources say Nuggets will take a long-term view on finding replacement for B-Shaw, but there are a couple key names to watch already. Former Nuggets coach Mike D'Antoni and former Nuggets guard Avery Johnson likely to be contenders for post. Alvin Gentry another strong name.
Scott Skiles is another person I heard mentioned.

You are probably right.

I think I'm looking at Coach Karl Historically.

He was a hell of a Coach in Seattle too.

Might have won a title had it not been for Jordan.

*refuses to acknowledge him being on the wrong side of History with Dikembe, LaPhonso Ellis and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf's Nuggets *
Karl is best known for the infamous Ray Allen for Gary Payton trade that screwed the Bucks franchise before he skipped town.

Thought Shaw was going to be the next good NBA coach, be interesting to see who Denver gets for coach next.

That's ironic coming from him considering he was a big part of that NO team that quit on Bryon Scott heading into the playoffs, didn't play for him at all at the start of the next season and got him fired like a month into the season. He basically did the same thing. Maybe he learned? :noidea:
