Tough decision. What is the success rate after two ligament replacements?

:noidea: i would assume pretty horrible. Makes me think if the Nats actually did the right thing with Strasburg.

Why was KC so eager to get rid of Santana? 211 IP with a 3.24 ERA in the American League not good enough last year? Ugh there's no doubt in my mind that the Braves wont miss a beat.

He wanted a 100M contract in the beginning of the offseason. They figured they had no shot at Santana and signed Vargas, Infante, and Chen to compensate. The reason the didn't spend the extra 14.1 M now is either they are cheap, don't believe in a repeat from him, or don't have the money.

Yep, his camp was being delusional from the get go. It is no mistake he was the one without a chair when the music stopped; his agent was fired with just cause probably, IMO.

They made him a qualifying offer of $14.1m. He turned it down, thinking he could do better in FA.

KC now gets the Braves 1st round pick!

So, The Royals win. The Braves win (with a one year deal for a pretty good pitcher)

Santana loses - He's stuck with a one year deal for the exact same amount as the KC offer he declined...

Actually, I am pretty sure it is a sandwich pick after the 1st round technically. In any case, the Braves lose money, a 1st round pick, and Medlen in a very short time. Brutal.

Somewhat edlusional, but they always shoot for the moon on their initial requests. I think they were shocked that no one even offerred him 2 or 3 years (teams just don't want to give up draft picks).

He just turned 31, so this was his winter to get a long term deal.

If he pitches well in the NL, someone will grab him next winter, but he'll only get 3-4 years at a similar AAV...

Santana wanted to pitch in the NL. He hadn't accepted any AL offers because he wanted to play in the NL. It is what i saw earlier.

Correct. The Braves 1st round pick will go to the Royals - but it will be made after all other 1st round picks.

Probably only true because of the 1 year contract situation where he will try to impress again so he gets the long term deal he wants next offseason.

Sucks to lose Medlen. He has been nothing but money for us in August and September the last 2 years. I really felt he was gonna have a shot at 20 wins this year. But we still have ,Teheran and Wood who are two future all stars, Minor who might miss the first week or two but he is solid. Santana and Garcia two veterans and hopefully Brandon Beachy but we dont know the extent of his injury yet. We should be ok though.

Pretty deep in pitching, its October that I go straight to. Need to stop being a regular season team. And who'll step up and be the ace?

I still think we should try and make a trade with the Rays for David Price. We may have to give up a couple of prospects but a bonafide ace is all we are missing from being a World Series contender.

I dunno...if all it took were to give up a couple of prospects for David Price, it would've been done already. What's the deal with this kid David Hale?

Careful what you wish for. Think about what the Rays got in a trade centering around Shields; and with Price, the price ( no pun intended) can only be higher.
