I think it was mostly because they couldn't compete with Toyota and Nissan just like those two manufacturers have yet to jump into the 3/4 ton, 8 foot bed (contractor) truck market.

1/2 right Rex Nissan never put a dent in that market

Well in that case,i wonder if he made 56 keys and gave them to player and coach on the team.....

is the vehicle staying at Gillette Stadium?

I`m betting he took it home........

And a better man would have handed butler the trophy......

Ok you get the runner up stupid comment award. I guess you didn't want to get left out. Congratulations

They did because Toyota Tacoma kills that market. I have never seen a vehicle hold a resale value like a Tacoma, regardless of miles. Before with the rust issues, Toyota did a recall to bring your Tacoma to a Toyota Dealer. The service Dept would put the truck on the lift ,and if a ball peen hammer went through the chasis, they bought it back at 150% of Kelly Blue Book, which is nuts. Kelly is a joke like Edmunds. Only market value is NADA, and red and black book. Now what they do, if rusted, they will replace your frame with a new one.

I agree to a point, but Ford sold the shit out of the Ranger.

I have an old friend who bought a Toyota pick up from a gentleman for about half it's book value because the old guy was just looking to dump it. Several months later his mechanic tells him of the recall isuue and he has it inspected at the Toy dealership. He wound up making out like a bandit and bought a much newer Toyota truck with no additional cash outlay..

Fair or not it is the perception up here in the north east.

My Dad bought one shortly before he passed. Totally underpowered piece of shit. My mom still has it, but I bet it hasn't been driven in years. To the best of my knowledge, Mom is not a lesbian.

Willie touches on this below your comment, it's all about marketing and one of the major auto mags just awarded the Colorado "Truck of the Year" if I remember correctly.

sell, sell, sell.......

They decided it was more appropriate to give Tom his preference, the deflated version of the Chevy truck..
 Sorry Rex, I couldn't resist ......

I think the Ranger has basically been a re-branded Mazda for years now. I remember back in 78 when I was stationed in NM I had a friend who had a Ranger/Mazda B-2000 and that POS could barely climb the pass between Alamogordo and Las Cruces. 2nd gear by the time we made the top.
