Here's a positive spin: we may have the top pick in 2017, can MM decide to go back to college?

I'll continue trying to look on the bright side of this deal ... I just heard mention that in his entire career Bradford only has 5 multi Interception games. Last year "alone" Foles and Sanchez had 7. So you get a better arm than either Foles or Sanchez, a guy who thrived in the spread in college and a guy who doesn't turn it over much. That "staying healthy" thing is the obvious biggest issue ... if he can avoid that, Bradford may have a career year in Chip's system.

I also wonder if there was concern about Foles's collarbone...

My inner Bradford bias is starting to creep out, especially since he's in Philly now….but still, health is a major question mark. Losing that 2nd rounder next year stings too

Yep without injury Bradford is Brady/Manning/Luck like. He was the #1 pick by every GM the year he was drafted. A bonafide superstar that's hard to find. There's also the thought his first acl wasn't perfectly repaired and the second one corrected that. Bradford is twice as good as Foles if healthy. Let's step back and watch it unfold.

Who's he throwing the ball too? Who is running the football?

Virtually all but about 5-10 RBs and WRs in the NFL are somewhat over rated. Its Offensive line and Quarterback Play that make all the difference. Its not that they don't work hard, or are not talented. Its just that there are plenty of other players that can produce well if the line and QB play is effective.

If the guy was marketable for more than this, someone else would have paid STL directly.

But no one else could offer them a starting QB in return.

I hope you are right though.

John Clayton's take:

“Honestly, [people say Mariota] may fall to the Jets; he’s not gonna fall to the Jets at six, I’ll tell you this right now,” Clayton said. “The Redskins will take him at [No.] five. Dan Snyder may not think there’s quarterback issues; Jay Gruden and everybody else in the front office thinks there’s quarterback issues. And if Marcus Mariota falls to five – now it’s not a position where they’re desperate enough to trade up to get him – but if he falls to 5, I’m telling you this right now, they’ll take him.”

Would you guys have preferred Griffin to Bradford?

I think the issue is replacing a healthy Foles with Mariota. Its still what Philly will give up to move up and get him. Redskins need players as much as the bears do, both will take picks over Mariota.

HE may have oodles of talent but what gives anyone hope that bradford can stay healthy?

Is he going to fall down a la Romo every time someone comes near him?

Does anyone think he's not going to take some big hits?

He's missed more than 50% of the last 5 years of games. Some guys might have the measurables but don't have the body to absorb pounding. That's what bradford looks like to me.

Is Kelly going to come out and defend this kid to the press or just throw him to the dogs. It'll be a very interesting presser.

Ewww. You guys need to get over Mariota. There is nothing special about him as a pro QB. Great college QB.

Now I continue to pray this Bradford thing is for real.

You gotta figure that Kelly did his homework and concluded that MM was simply not going to happen. So what is plan B? He could continue on with Foles, maybe draft a Hundley...or, trade for Foles for Bradford. Kelly obviously sees more upside with Bradford. Really not that big a deal. Could pay off big time with minimal risk.

I know Chip just said what he had to say, but I read from a source that the Eagles are already shopping Bradford?

With little mobility and health issues I find it hard to believe he's all in with Bradford but i don't really care. He knows more than anyone who can run it.

I think after a couple years in the NFL Chip realizes it is going to be harder to win with a read option offense. Sure the Seahawks won but that was solely on defense imo. Wilson is vastly overrated IMO and while I think he is a good QB it was not his game what won the SB. When you look around the NFL there are similar styles but pocket passers are still the premium type QB in the NFL.
