I don`t consider broken plays/scrambles part of the "running game". We're arguing semantics. RWs ability to run on designed or broken plays is a huge asset. I just don't agree with comparing a QBs total run yards to a RB. I would many RBs feel slighted as they are breaking tackles/many players miss on designed runs to earn their yards.
IMHO it's comparing apples and oranges is all I'm trying to say.

I agree that Russell ran the ball scrambling more (about 5 times per game in 2014), but he was also called on as a runner in design (about 3 times per game).

Now, as for breaking tackles, making people miss - doesn't matter when, or how it happens it happens - and Russell is extremely good at breaking tackles (and has a RB quality stiff arm).

Just to highlight a few. I don't care how the running yards are made, just as long as they're made and the players are healthy at the end of it.

We compare apples to oranges every day. Inevitable, really. NFL teams do it too when they're deciding whether to pay a RB or pay a WR when they can't have both, whether to draft a DE or a LB.

The yards RW gains on the ground impact the game, and it's part of what he brings to the table. You can't discard it when trying to assess how good he is or how he's helped by the "running game" that he is a substantial part of. Seattle's running game with Tarvaris Jackson under center is not as good as the running game with Wilson under center.

Ok I get it. You love RW. He can do no wrong. He's Barry Sanders, OJ, Emmit Smith all in one. The OP was about Wagner. You decided to introduce a comparison of yards gained to support your opinion. It's not about comparisons everyday. It's about the comparison you introduced. What is so difficult about agreeing to disagree that the stat is flawed IMO?

You really went the false dilemma route? Yeah, probably a good stopping point for this one.

Wilson's strong, built like a running back ... His height actually helps him when scrambling...
