Ryan likes living in Orange County. My wife has a friend that plays roller hockey with him during the summer. Ryan is hoping when he is a UFA that he will get BIG bucks. The Ducks want to dealy that option as long as possible because they are worried that they won't be able to afford him. Also if he signs a 3 year deal Perry and Getz and he all will be UFA at the same time, all due big pay raises. The issue will be the new CBA. That is what could really hurt Ryan in this struggle. If the cap goes down a bunch Ryan may not get his payday.

The Ducks could be in a world of hurt if they lose all three of those guys to free agency in a few years.

I have a question for the Perry haters. When he becomes a UFA will you want your team to sign him?

no thanks. I'll give him enough respect to hope he goes to the east though.
I sure wouldn't mind Getzlaf on my club.

The funny thing is he was on fire in the first half of last season (like he was playing to make Team Canada) and I think he left nothing in the tank after the Olympic break. He stopped scoring and the Ducks fell in the standings.

He still has too many WTF moments (along with spearing guys in scrums) for me to want him on my team.

Honestly Isles, I wouldn't want him on the Sharks. And he would fill some very big needs in being a right hand shot and making the Sharks tougher to play against. The problem with Perry is that he needs a team with a rough and tough mindset (and the personnel to backup that style) to be truly effective. Otherwise, the guy just plays reckless and dangerous and is going to get one of your star players hurt. I don't like the way he plays as I've seen him more than a handful of times not let up at all and actually intend to hurt the opposing player. He's a very good player, but I'd pass with all the baggage he brings. If they ever do remove the instigator rule, I'm not sure he'd be very effective at all.

Fuck Corey Perry. He would be a great fit on the Wings (Zetterberg and Franzen, Datsyuk and Perry would make for two great scoring lines) but I just have no respect for him. The last few times he's played the Wings, I've seen him redeem himself on some plays, but I think deep down he is a scumbag and I don't see that changing.

Nice talent and grit though, for what that's worth after my scathing review..

If Bob Murray was smart, he'd give in to Bobby's three year wish. It's better to have those three for three years together than not have them together at all. Make a run now, forget about the future - it worked for Chicago...

true. I read the headline as
"Bobby Ryan wants to be really, really rich. If he's a Duck, that's OK too"
