Bo kind of brushed it off as a typical thing he sees with freshmen. He wasn't exactly throwing the kid under the bus, and it sounds like Valentine is very aware of Bo and the rest of the teams concerns about him.

It's been said a couple of times here, he was used to coasting off his talent in HS, and now everyone's big strong and fast. He's got such a rare skill set and we need support on D-line immediately.

I think the gist of it was that if he would just bring the lunch pale every day he could be a real contributor, but he just doesn't know what it takes to be a D1 football player at a major university.

Really happy to hear about Collins. Sounds like he is a play right away guy and that is what we need badly.

I understand what Bo is trying to do but this technique didn't come about just recently with VV, we've got waayy too many eggs in this guys basket for him to still be slurping his High School koolaid and I guess a pitchers of pork gravy. I have a very bad feeling about him, I don't think he can handle the pressure and grind of CFB

He was doing a shitload of whining on social media a couple months ago. He ceased doing that.

I don't have a very good feeling about him either CT.

Damon Benning was going through the list of high profile defensive line recruits since Bo has been here and it's ugly. Really ugly.

Basically Suh is the only high profile DT recruit we've had who truly panned out.

Couple of things from B1G media days.

First of all he says Valentine has work ethic issues.

Confirms all of our suspicions and explains players calling him out on twitter. On the positive side, he says Maliek Collins "walked in here a grown man."

He does say that McMullen, Moss, Valentine and Curry is by far the best looking D-Line he's recruited and he expects a lot out of the ends this year. Valentine may not have to be relied on if Randle can stay healthy.

Says he see's Gregory as a stand up pass rusher who's main goal is to kill the QB. Other guys he says fits that role are Afalava, Banderas and Natter.

Has me excited about the athleticism there.

Overall Bo is really happy with the athlete's he's got. hashtag recruiting.

sorry mis-read post, thought these were all bullet points relating to Pelini. Didn't put it together that bullet 2 was referring to bullet 1.

More scared of tackling a guy that runs faster than a 4.7, cause apparently that was the max speed of any of our LB's last season. If them guys weren't getting their ass's eaten out after the shit they pulled last year then I would really question Bo's leadership, no amount of ass chewing ever could fix those problems they had

That what happens when your coach put more or give more credit of knowing the "playbook" over guys who can actually make plays

Our lb didn't really know the book they just have been there the longest

If sweeps fool you then I don't care how much book you know you shouldn't play bc all that is speed and filling holes and being disciplined

They should have let the young guys played last year atleast if they made a mistake we could say their young. Last year defense had players that were around I'm 09-10 and still looked lost or slow.

My friend told me if we didn't cash In DL wise on suh mania that if was gonna bite us in the future. I laughed at him and said bo has it under control that was back in 2010. Now I'm looking stupid bc DL don't come flying to us and we never cashed in on SUH.

I think another part is that bo DL scheme is not sexy it meant for LB to get the glory. I'm the SEC DL are free to create havoc not so much here the two gap system bo runs is not as popular im guessing. That why we should use more 3-4 bc it's still two gap but we can use or lb more which are deeper and faster

Just my two cents. But championship are won in the trenches...

Exactly, we are not getting the strong farm boys like T.O. did. You know the type, guys who had the work ethic to become better and fight for their position. Hell - Bo isn't looking for them either. Iowa is coming into Nebraska and recruiting them. We get the soft 4 star D-Line players who run home like Rome.

Read it this morning made me so hype

I'm tired of the SEC bandwagon riding when it's really just bama lsu with a side order of fla uga SC.

That it with now tamu coming up

Not ole miss, uk, Mizzou , tenn, miss st, auburn, vandy, Arkansas

And if we pull the history book out they will need near 10 teams to combine what we have done.

The hate SEC gets is not bc of the top teams its bc of the peanut gallery acting like tenn and UK add something to the mix outside of free wins

you do know "farm boys" are extinct right? The technology farmers use today, there is no such thing as your good ol fashion farm boys.

Not a dig on Nebraska, out here in Oregon they are extinct as well, our farms today are run by computers and those driving tractors just sit there on wifi computers while the damn thing drives itself.

The hay barrels are no longer tossed by the kids, as they don't work their ass off anymore. Instead its Jorge Lopez Martinez found at the home depot for $5 an hour.

But let me ask you this, is this the type of player (Athletically) your coaches want?

See, it seems to me, IMO, that Nebraska is uncertain of the direction they want to take their team, what image they want to be. I feel like they want to be the uptempo very fast, very athletic team, seeing by who they have been recruiting lately (many recruits battling with Oregon) anyways, I just feel like they are unsure what their identity is going to be if they then also want the big lugs up front on the line.

You can't have both. You either are a pound it out style of team, where you get those big farm boys, but you trade in having up tempo.

Or you are either a fast paced, no huddle, fast team, but you give up having that big brute force of an O-Line.

Oregon has given up the brute force O-Line, we don't go so big up front, but we are quick and athletic up front.

It has its advantages and disadvantages, but you cant have both.

1. He's talking about D-Line.

2. Just because fans talk about farm boys... It has no reflection of the staffs recruiting strategy.

They are more sure than ever what kind of player they want on both sides of the ball.

Especially offense.

Something interesting I learned this week: Oregon takes some plays from Nebraska and Nebraska takes some plays from Oregon. Their staffs have frequent communication.

yeah they do. I think it has to do with Frost. He created this pipeline between programs.

I also just read today from Media days, that Frost has shown Mariota Nebraska highlights from the 90s when he played.

One quote was, "One amazing kick ball catch they had." referring to Missouri '97.

Prob just using that as an example why you never give up and you always go 100 no matter how out of reach a victory feels.

I remember exactly where I was, who I was with, and how I felt. I was just a youngin and we had just got out of a swim meet of mine in Omaha and we went to this rib joint after called Tony Roma's because we knew they had TV's. We got in about midway through the 1st quarter and stayed through the whole game. The place was packed and everyone there was glued to like the 5 lame tube TV's they had there.

I remember when Matt Davison made that catch I started crying. Literally sobbing in public and I really didn't know why at that point. I was so young, but I somehow still understood the significance. Probably had to do with my parents always making me understand how big of a deal it was.

I felt embarrassed for like 5 seconds for crying and then I look around and there are grown ass men crying.

I have met Scott and Matt since then and it was just nuts looking them in the eye. Nicest dudes you will ever meet. You just feel fortunate as a CFB fan to be around the greatest program of all time.
