If it is a mental thing, what in the hell does a coaching staff do to get a team mentally prepared to not turn the ball over just like they had prepared to do all week long?

Either they are not physical in practice or they are nervous game day wise. but the question is are they getting the right prep in practice.

What kind of contact are they getting in scrimmage? I know it was an issue on the d's side before with their arm tackling and flag taps on first tackle but I thought he learned from that and started having full contact scrimmage.

There is always the threat of injuries if you emulate game time situations but if you don't then unfortunately games become your practice field.

You play how you practice and this team practices soft and they at soft. Other teams list Michigan St play hard. When you play soft and you get hit around then you get loose with the football.

depends on that teams depth and talent . lane said he had to go easy in practice and it showed on game day. I don't know exactly what big Ed Did but they out muscled stanford and look like a totally different team.
