A sump pit is a place where rain water is collected from around the foundation of a house, and is then expelled back out into the yard by a pump installed in the sump pit.
It's also a place for illegals to piss and shit into, but I do realize that's their culture down in Mexico, and unethical contractors love them as an almost free labor pool.
