Can't ask for much more than that for a first period on the road. A goal would have been nice, but the Jackets outshoot the Pens 16-3 and laid some very hard checks on key guys.
Dubinsky is (as expected) assigned to harass Crosby. And Anderson appears tasked with making Malkin cuss in Russian.
And Jesus Farking Crisp does Werenski make a difference.

Well, that period couldn't have gone worse. Shots now even, Pens up 3-0.
That's why you gotta respect the Penguins. And it's flashbacks to the last time these two teams met. The Jackets came over the wall like a marauding horde and the Pens just showed patience, waited for opportunities and laid serious counter-punches on the Jackets. It's usually Malkin doing it. That Russian sumbitch just eats us alive.
Some people will probably gripe about the Crosby forearm shiver that wasn't called, but if Anderson hadn't flopped like a fish, he might have gotten the call.
One thing both sides CAN complain about is the linesmen. Twice they have called icing before the puck crossed the goal line (once each). Called icing on the Pens when Jack Johnson touched it at his blue line and called no icing twice when the puck was straight cleared from 4/5ths of the ice. Pens third goal was on a waved off icing when two Jackets were closer to the goal line than the Pens player.
Entertaining game to watch as a hockey fan. Hard one to watch as a Jackets fan so far. They haven't packed it in yet. They aren't making it easy, the Pens are just burying the chances they get.
And, and what was I saying about Harrington and Dumpster fire? Ryan Murray, I am driving past Pittsburgh tomorrow. You can ride with me. On the plus side Carlsson, minus one ill advised pivot (wrong way on the third goal) has looked solid.

Also, lots of respect to Sullivan. Torts started the period with Dubinsky and Sullivan put Crosby out there against him. Basically saying "Fuck you. We aren't afraid of any matchup". He has the upper hand at the moment.

Clean first period. Pretty much a carbon copy of game 1. Weathered the storm, Pens kept shots out of the slot, lots of blocks. Only difference was the gaffe by MAF....er, The Bob.
