Because he likes the franchise. This was the franchise that made him a known name.

Cant he make a movie that is just fun? And lots of fans have been clamoring for for about 30 years? It is a passion project. And he is completely entitled to do those.

That’s what Adam Sandler does now as well. He enjoys light-hearted fare that he can do with his family. If we don’t like it, tough. He has ultimate FU money and can do projects he wants to do.

with the John Wick series on fire, his motorcycle company doing really well for itself, Keanu is not struggling for cash these days.

he's gotta be one of the coolest guys in Hollywood.

Is he also going to be in the new Matrix movies? If so he very well could have around 4 blockbusters on his WIP. There is also talk of taking the John Wick universe and marrying it with the Atomic Blonde universe. That is interesting.
