Baseless suit that does nothing but tick off the SEC.

If this ever goes to court, the suing schools should have to pay A&M/tSECs legal costs.

A&M isn't going to the SEC to screw those schools over, and the SEC isn't taking A&M just to screw over the B12. There is no chance of a victory.

That's what exit fees are there for. Big 12 should have made them higher.

Good thing you are all lawyers. Oh wait...

1. The law that they are trying to sue over is only applied in cases where one party goes out of their way to damage another party while they don't gain at all. To win this suit, you'd have to prove that they're just screwing you over, and aren't doing this to better themselves. In other words, good lucks.

2. Think about it. You work for Pepsi, you quit and take a higher paying job at Coke. Can Pepsi sue Coke to make up the new employee costs? Have you ever seen any type of this lawsuit?

The problem with the 3 issues mentioned:

1. Tortious Interference - you need to prove that it was the intention of A&M/tSEC to harm the B12, not to better themselves.

2. Breach of Contract - no clue on this one. Though I can't imagine it was specifically written in that A&M couldn't leave.

3. Detrimental Alliance - If they are liable under this, and that's a big if, they are only liable for the difference in a deal between the current one, and one for a 9 team conference, which isn't going to be that much. Even if the conference folds, the courts will estimate a TV deal assuming that the B12 simply picked a new 10th team, and base the damages off of that. Another huge issue is that A&M mentioned before that it wanted out and was considering the SEC, so it's possible the court will just throw it out as ISU/Baylor/etc. should have known they couldn't rely on this / should have known A&M's intentions.

As with any lawsuit, there's a chance of a payoff, but this will likely result in nothing more than a petty settlement.
