So...when texico was talking to the PAC last year, Baylor/the texas legislature could have sued texico if they had left?

LOL

I'm not sure you're grasping reality with both hands here...

Besides, if the first contact can be proven to have been initiated by the Tammies I'm not too sure that anyone can sue anyone for anything. I mean, if the Buffs and the Cornys can leave without repercussion, why can't anyone else?

Face it...texico went into full "WE'RE TEXAS" mode, damned the torpedoes and is now wanting to retract them.

No...I just do it so you can fire off a non-related personal affront.

...and to feel the warm satisfaction it creates...knowing it gets to you!

Well to be honest the ideal that the Southwest will be void of a major football conference should the BIG Xii fold....

:lm:

Wtf!

I think the horns and aggies need to kiss and make up.

Dan Beebe needs to be fired, yesterday.

The BIG Xii needs to restructure its revenue sharing and agressivly go after a major program and bring the numbers back up to twelve. No reason why every school cant be awarded equal revenue for television contracts.

I agree Mark...but it won't happen until texico takes a pill. I don't see ND or BYU wanting to get into the BigXII with texico....and we don't need more Iowa States or Baylors...

If Texas is considering leaving to another conference where they would have to share revenue earned from television, then there is no reason they wont agree to equal revenue sharing should they stay in the BIG Xii with a new revenue sharing agreement.

Disagree Mark. The difference between equal revenue sharing in the Big 12 and the Pac 16 is the amount of money being shared. The current Pac 12 deal is worth 3 billion dollars over 10 years. The Pac 12's current market is 62 million people (according to the 2010 census. we'll round to 60 million for easy numbers). Adding Texas and Oklahoma markets would add 29 million people (we'll round to 30 million). That is a 50% increase in people. Assuming the value of people is equal that should lead to an increase in the current deal of $3 billion to $4.5 billion over 10 years. Assuming everyone is an equal party immediately that translates into $28,125,000 per team per year split evenly among the 16 teams.

Texas is currently receiving $20 million from TV with unequal revenue sharing. If they reduce their share to make it more equal with the others it would be even less. Let's just say $18 million to make the math easier but that's a little bit over $10 million dollars a year less to share equally in the Big 12 than it would be to share equally in the Pac 16.

Obviously if the Big 12 could add some major markets like ND, BYU, Pitt etc. it would increase the eyeballs in their territory and increase the dollars and the dollars to share and maybe they would agree to equal revenue sharing. But none of those teams are going to join.

If the offer is right, anyone can be bought.

All this talk of ND untouchable is bs. They will end up in a conference within the next 3 years.

Not until they can't compete with the revenue of a super conference. Even then it will be the Big 10.

Two things here - is AtM actually getting the money it was promised last year? And using last years thinking, Baylor and Texas should get even more money in the Big XII without having to feed aTm. It's hard to prove damages to those programs if they get a bigger slice of the pie. The super conferences are inevitable.

Kristi Dosh in her article on Forbes.com wrote about who's making money in the Big 12 and, as the numbers show, the sheer size of some of the athletic departments make the differences in the TV revenue split seem minute. Below are the numbers from her article just for the football programs.

Football Revenue and Expenses

School '09-10 revenue-- '09-10 Expenses-- '09-10 Profit

Texas $93,942,815.00--- $25,112,331-- $68,830,484
Oklahoma $58,295,888.00-- $20,150,769-- $38,145,119
Nebraska $49,928,228.00-- $17,843,849-- $32,084,379
Texas A&M $41,915,428.00-- $16,599,798-- $25,315,630
Oklahoma State $32,787,498.00-- $15,479,410--- $17,308,088
Colorado $26,233,929.00-- $12,558,503-- $13,675,426
Texas Tech $26,201,009.00-- $14,688,382-- $11,512,627
Missouri $25,378,066.00-- $13,759,649-- $11,618,417
Iowa State $19,974,924.00-- $13,368,441-- $6,606,483
Kansas $17,885,176.00-- $16,270,250-- $1,614,926
Kansas State $17,570,624.00-- $11,157,789-- $6,412,835
Baylor $14,355,322.00-- $12,462,241-- $1,893,081

If you still aren't convinced, check out the numbers from the Big Ten, which is widely known to distribute its TV revenue equally. As you'll see, there are still a huge disparities between the schools at the top, and those that aren't.

Athletic Dept Profit

Penn State Univ. $26,354,087.00
Univ. of Michigan $24,549,181.00
Michigan State Univ. $18,477,200.00
Ohio State Univ. $18,239,971.00
Univ. of Iowa $14,299,406.00
Indiana Univ. $7,022,613.00
Univ. of Wisconsin $3,779,582.00
Purdue Univ. $3,288,418.00
Univ. of Illinois $1,739,610.00
Northwestern Univ. $0.00
Univ. of Minnesota $0.00

Whether everyone is in agreement on the unequal revenue distribution or not, the numbers show it doesn't create that big of a disparity. At least not a disparity that creates a distinct advantage for one team or another. And within the Big 12, if any school has a huge problem with it, simply win more and you'll likely get a bigger piece of the pie. The reason those schools can't win more goes far beyond receiving a little extra (or less) cash from the TV revenue.

Well, to put it succinctly, yes......the SEC may choose not to invite or accept them.

Texas won't have that problem no matter where they go. If the Big 12 folds, the state legislature will blame Aggie. So they BETTER get in the SEC, because if not......LMAO.

The Lt Gov David Dewhurst is getting ready to sue the SEC, so I'm betting the SEC leaves A&M out to dry. Then this gets even more hilarious.

Isn't the new revenue split team based and not performance based? I thought the new contract guaranteed huge amounts to Texas, OU and aTm?

And even if it is performance based, it's not very appealing to be unsure of your TV revenue for the year if you're the guy designing the budget.

Exactly.

If the Texas legislature is willing to waste state money on suing over college football conference alignment, then they are dumber than I even I thought possible.
