This situation will prove out that franchise QB's like Dak shouldn't be afraid of the franchise tag.

Even with this injury, Dak is going to make more money than had he signed the contract that was offered to him 2 years ago.

People shouldn't be crying for Dak. He is a lock to make $37m next year barring a MASSIVE infection. No way the Cowboys don't franchise him. He then will get to play however many games he thinks he can and needs to next year (probably somewhere between 3-8 games is my guess) and then still be up for a massive extension on a free agent market that will be looking at a cap space of $250m per team.

Yeah, He's going to be franchised next year and if he comes back healthy he'll actually sign a bigger deal than the one the Cowboys offered him. Don't get me wrong, this totally sucks for him but there's a very good chance that he won't lose a dime because of the injury.

Devastating. Absolutely horrible. I like Dak, such a nice guy - he’s one of the few cowboys I wish our team had. Hoping he has a full recovery and balls out again soon.
Same... I've never liked the Cowboys franchise but I have enjoyed watching a few of their players... Dak was one of them and so was Romo... Wish him a speedy recovery... As someone already stated, this could be it for him as a Cowboy... Wonder if the Cowboys will try to pursue a trade for Matt Ryan for the 2021 season..

Likely depends on what Dalton can achieve for the rest of the season imo

Why would they trade for Matt Ryan?

Ready to win now mode? Do you really think Jones will draft a rookie and develop him after pouring all this money into skilled positions? I can't see him being patient for that... If it's not Ryan, it will be another veteran...

The Cowboys have Dalton.

For the 2021 season?
Hopefully Dak is back. Having been witness to the horrific Theismann injury, I NEVER want injuries to happen . Even to my worst division rivals. I can never unsee that injury...or LT reacting with horror at that injury. That’s the way it should be with players. And fans. Football is less without the best players on the field for each team imo.

Side note - LT was the best I’ve ever seen at that position in person. It was amazing to watch him, even if he was a Gnat.

I think he'll sign a LTD next off season vs. the FT.

I think Dak is back next season so no need to trade for Ryan, if not, they'll resign Dalton.

flare up. I think he can be back to able to workout shape by summer if the bones slide back together well when they set them. With metal bracing that may be much different. Too bad it was sad to see.
