The Simpsons. This one isn't even close for me.

SP has been around ALMOST as long, and actually is still relevent. I think Simpsons get extra credit for bringing back prime time animation while it has actually beep passed by a lot of the shows that came after.

I am not a fan of Family Guy, but I think it has been around long enough to make Simpson's longevity not really matter in a head-to-head battle. As for SP, it has an equally impressive run, but it becomes better because it has been relevant for it's entire run. Simpsons has not been relevant since Mr Burns was shot.

You should have done polls for all the various cartoon shows separate from the real shows.
But it is what it is.
Just TV.

btw: props to you @calsnowskier for even doing these in the 1st place...it had to be arduous.
We appreciate it.

I agree with most of that. But I think the Simpsons is still relevant, and never wasn't relevant, it's just not as good as it once was.

I still think it's fine. I just think there is allot more out there to choose from.

There would be no Family Guy or South Park without the Simpsons.

I cant argue the fact that none of these would exist without the Simpsons. They certainly re-opened that closed door.

But once that door was opened, better talent came through that opened door, led by South Park.

Sanford & Son was funny. DAMNED funny, even.

But in a field this deep, I just dont think it belongs in the discussion. All the other options were at least equally as high quality or offer importance / relevance (with one obvious exception).

S&S was in the same time frame as All in the Family, Jeffersons and Good Times. Each of these was as ground breaking (if not more so) on the racial front, and at least in the same ball park on the humor front. Also at this time was Soap which was probably even MORE envelope-pushing and ground-breaking.

For me, there are only 2 shows that dont deserve consideration in this category. And S&S is one of them. And that is no knock on S&S.

SOA was a good enough show.

It just doesnt belong anywhere near any "best of" lists...
Even though I think I voted to nominate it, I agree...

EDIT: unless we could just nominate one season of the show. Season 3 of SOA might have been the best complete season of any show I've ever seen.

voted for South Park.

But I admit to having watched Stanford and Son less than 1 hour ago. It was the episode where the diamond thieves invite them to Hawaii to try and trick them into being miles to smuggle them out. 2 parter, only showed the 1st part.
