Manny made a comment in the "Americans" thread that got me thinking...

What do you mean when you say "One of the best shows right now"? Does that typically mean top 5? Top 10? I think I would associate that statement with any show that is legit in the discussion as the best show overall (top 1). For me, that pretty much begins and ends with GoT and BCS. TWD is still one of my faves, but it's quality does not belong in this discussion anymore.

But is it a valid statement to claim a show that is "only" top 10 to be labeled as "one of the best"?

I typically use this formula:

For all the idiots out there, this reads left to right. You factor in the worst and best shows of all time, take -x (he worst show ever) and square it and raise e to that power. Then you do a lot more stuff that would take too long to explain, ignoring the fact that you plebeians likely wouldn't understand it anyway.

Using this equation, your favorite 6 shows from the previous decade are included, and then 4 from the 1970's are used. Anything before 1960 is null and void.

Hope this helps.

My crack usage and penny-pinching has absolutely nothing to do with my fondness for math equations and television series

Cancelling out anything before 1960 will surely leave @Nosferatu pissed off

The quadratic equation is not that hard. Hell it has been over 4 decades since I last saw it and I still can use the damned thing.

GOT is by far the best thing on tv for years now. Its the GOAT show of this decade.
