Besides money, which event will have the biggest influence on a Cousins signing?

Plain and simple J. Gruden now has been extended and there's a growing likelihood that we're going to lose both P. Garcon and DJax. Beyond money, which will have the greater impact on Cousins returning?

all this drama with the GM & the vacuum of information is exactly why its pointless to follow the team during the offseason until anything is made official.

Scot is either dealing with his demons at home as reports from Mike Jones would suggest & is sitting at home waiting to be fired once we get past the draft ...

or he genuinely is taking care of a family matter and the media & fans just cant not handle not knowing every single detail & the deafening silence from the redskins PR is driving us nuts.

as for Grudens extension ... i believe he deserved it.

but we'll always speculate about the timing.

Could they have been waiting for his birthday to make him the offer. Sure.

Could they have decided extending Gruden now was the best way to portray to the public & players agents that the rails have not gone completely off the track in Ashburn. Sure.


but its all speculation.

if anything i believe the extension given to Gruden weakens Cousins position ...

now Gruden could feel enabled to roll with McCoy for a year ... while letting a rookie develop ... without the fear of being fired for a single losing season ... which might have been a factor before the extension.

but ... it could also be, as we all hope ... a signal to Cousins the he can commit to a long term deal here knowing Gruden is locked in.

as far as the story about Cousins being traded to the 9ers or whomever ... I have no doubt Bruce is the source of all these ridiculously false stories that make as all us fans angry/ laugh / cry

as for the loss of Jackson & Garcon ...

i would hope Cousins would be able to get past that considering

1. The Skins still have weapons with Reed, Doctson, Crowder, possible FA & draft additions

2. He is not going to find better weapons in possible suitors such as Jets / 9ers / Buffalo

I didn't vote for either option because Kirk will feels an obligation to himself, his agent, and to the next QB to come along to sign the largest deal possible. That's why the coach extension means nothing IMO. I was always under the belief that he will eventually sign but now I'm not so sure. He is fine with the franchise tag and understands what being a FA after 2018 means. So why sign with Washington?

How are you guys so sure we can or can't win with McCoy, Sundfeld, etc? McCoy got an extension with I assume Gruden's approval. Maybe the Redskin coaches felt several years of coaching and their offensive systems with starters around KC, was what turned KC into a good QB.

Then that could be replicated to other QBs without having to pay them $24 million annually. In fact, KC had big problems with his passing game when Reed was out. When Reed came back from his injuries two years ago, that is when KC started passing the ball better.

There is a reason QBs always fail on certain teams. There are also reasons why QBs seem to excel with other teams in specific systems with personnel and coaching around them. Maybe Bruce Allen realized this and thought the coaching staff and system were much more important to long-term winning than resigning KC. Hence why Gruden got the extension before free agency and the draft took place.

niether colt mccoy or SUDFeld together have totaled as much as 8 wins in their combined careers

You almost expect them both to be gone. BUT at the same time, there is an expectation that Kirk will step up with Doctson, Crowder and Reed. Also the defense would be fixed.

Just going straight out of principle, this is being a little petty and a little greedy. I think this speaks VOLUMES about what is about to happen. I understand it is KCs agents job to get as much money possible for his client, but seriously???

The Redskins have extended an olive branch by extending JG, and putting the exclusive tag on KC, showing that they want him back long term and want to hammer out a deal. I imagine they are offering close to or slightly exceeding the Luck deal by now.

It seems to me like KC is a little butt hurt by last seasons contract and is now "making it personal". I hope he signs over the couple months, because if he plays on the tag again so he can get an even bigger contract next year, I am gonna start hoping for bad things.

This is my bold prediction (again): Short of an epic contract, KC has no intentions of signing with us. He will roll the dice and play on the tag again, and then demand a $30 million dollar contract APY, $100 MG next year. He will walk and be a cuss word into Skins households across America.

I truly hope eat crow. But this situation is starting to piss me the hell off. And I don't typically get coach/country emotional.

For the 1 millionth time, can someone explain this to me like a 5 year old. I will admit that I am no rocket scientist but for the life of me I cannot explain why the media is wanting this to happen. Here are the facts:

1. Cousins is NOT from CA.
2. The 49ers are a dumpster fire with zero talent and a revolving door in the front office.
3. Kyle was not the lone supporter of Cousins with the Skins. The media has done a great job of making it out to be that Kyle wanted to draft and start Cousins over RG3. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The Skins obviously have some questions with the GM but they have a coach who just got extended, a team President who has been with the team for several years and they are much closer to competing than the 49ers. Can we please stop this circus of Cousins demanding to go to San Fran please?
