Plain and simple J. Gruden now has been extended and there's a growing likelihood that we're going to lose both P. Garcon and DJax. Beyond money, which will have the greater impact on Cousins returning?

Everyone will probably disagree but....humility. I think if our brass would apologize for the way this has been handled, it would go a long way. I am not being a simpleton and its just my opinion but some type of apology should be made.

I read today that the Redskins don't want him, and think they can win with Colt McCoy. So I'm guessing he ends up in SF or Chicago.

Sounds like more "fake news". Why would the Skins have offered a long term contract last week if they didn't want him?

Link? As Duke said, prolly another 49er fanboy article by some hack at Bleacher Report or some
other click bait.

Now.. I'll go with #1. He probably won't be in a much better situation wrt WRs at some of the rumored landing spots. Reed, Crowder, and hopefully Doc.. no slouches.

Its about the money with KC. He knows he can hit it big when he becomes a UFA in 2018. So I would be surprised if he takes hometown discount to sign a LTD. Skins offered 20M if they bump t to 22M it should be fair enough. I know all this depends on the gmoney. He just doesn't deserve more than Luck. IF he is asking for more than Luck then I cry foul.

According to MMQB's Albert Breer, the Redskins believe they can win with Colt McCoy as their starting quarterback.

Per Breer, the feeling in D.C. is they want to resolve the Kirk Cousins situation now, whether it's sign him long term or trade him so they don't have to go through this whole ordeal again next offseason. McCoy is entering his age-31 season and has been with coach Jay Gruden in Washington all three years. He has attempted 139 passes since 2014, completing 98 (70.5 percent) for 1,185 yards (8.5 YPA) and a 5:3 TD:INT mark. He's also been one of the best preseason passers in that time. As a 16-game starter, McCoy likely offers a 7-9 or 8-8 ceiling.

I'm not feeling Colt McCoy at all, from my perspective he shouldn't be here in any capacity. We can do much better!

He is a solid stopgap/backup. Gkennon wants 15m per season. lol.

This is the media at its worst. NOBODY in DC (the front office or fanbase) believes the Skins can win with McCoy. We have never heard that or even thought that.

Not trying to shoot the messenger, but this just proves my point. The media has declared war on the Skins this offseason as there is nothing else to write. I would only hope people are smart enough to laugh at these articles and move on with their day.

I guess we will next hear that the Skins want to dig up George Allen and re-bury him at Redskins Park at the entrance. They will even place the body in glass so all can view him.

Who is making up this crap!

Actually starting to hear reports that Jackson may re-sign w/ the Redskins. If that occurs then it may help entice Cousins even more. I am guessing that we will know by weeks end since all signs point to Jackson making his decision by the end of the week.

Dead give away in shitty articles like this one is that they don't actually quote any players, coaches or execs from the Redskins side. It is all speculation on Breer's part or quoting unnamed sources or other reporters. Heck - any poster from this site could do the same rehashing of this since most of this info is very old news. Just lazy journalism once again.

Not trying to stir the pot but its always enlightening when fans other teams come on here and attempt to advise us as to what is going on. I am not trying to be mean at all but any logical fan would know this article is laughable at best.

How are you guys so sure we can or can't win with McCoy, Sundfeld, etc? McCoy got an extension with I assume Gruden's approval. Maybe the Redskin coaches felt several years of coaching and their offensive systems with starters around KC, was what turned KC into a good QB.

Then that could be replicated to other QBs without having to pay them $24 million annually. In fact, KC had big problems with his passing game when Reed was out. When Reed came back from his injuries two years ago, that is when KC started passing the ball better.

There is a reason QBs always fail on certain teams. There are also reasons why QBs seem to excel with other teams in specific systems with personnel and coaching around them. Maybe Bruce Allen realized this and thought the coaching staff and system were much more important to long-term winning than resigning KC. Hence why Gruden got the extension before free agency and the draft took place.

Sorry, I think Gruden has the greater influence. Besides we still have a number of other targets in the passing game including Reed, Crowder, Thompson, etc.
